Currently the funding of government is operating under a stop-gap measure passed during the lame-duck session of the 111th Congress, which is set to expire on March 4. On Tuesday,  January 25, the House under a Republican majority passed a resolution 256-165 -- seventeen Democrats crossed the aisle to vote with the Republicans on this matter -- that instructs the Chairman of the House Budget Committee Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) to set the budget at 2008 spending levels, or lower.

The animosity shown the Second Amendment by the media and many of our elected representatives sworn to uphold the Constitution and the Bill of Rights is never so apparent as when a particularly heinous criminal shooting occurs. These tragedies are immediately seized upon as a springboard for introducing more gun control measures, which are usually circumventions of the Second Amendment in intent and practice, and therefore unconstitutional.

altWe may soon reach the last link in “chain migration” as the legislative battle to clarify the 14th Amendment has officially begun. Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) has introduced H.R. 140, “To amend section 301 of the Immigration and Nationality Act to clarify those classes of individuals born in the United States who are nationals and citizens of the United States at birth.” Upon introduction, it was immediately referred to the House Committee on the Judiciary.
