Next week, I'm giving some presentations about H.R. 2454 at a few JBS meetings that some great California JBS members are hosting in the Bay area of California. I've put together a handout that I plan to disbribute together with copies of our September 28th "Cap & Trade" issue of The New American magazine to attendees and I thought JBS readers on this website could use the information as a basis for a handout for whatever Cap & Trade presentations you might be offering in your communities.
You can flesh this out, or edit it as you need for your state, community, or particular venue where you present information about the Waxman Markey bill. So hoping you won't have to reinvent the wheel, here's what I've assembled for a handout at those California events:

It’s massive volume should terrify you to think that our energy industries will have to try to comply with this mess. ACTIONS to take:
First, we must create a snowball-effect of UNDERSTANDING in our communities. Therefore, I challenge each of you to obtain and read the Cap & Trade article contained in the September 28th issue of The New American “Cap & Trade” magazine. Share it with other opinion molders, with your Congressmen, with State Legislators, and with other Businessmen to build their understanding of the consequences to them if H.R. 2454 should pass. Share the website of the H.R. 2454 Senate version of the bill as well and ask others to wade through it:

Second, make sure to write letters to your U.S. Senators, in California that means U.S. Senators Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein, objecting to the massive overregulation of H.R. 2454 and promising to work against their reelection should they continue to back the bill. Use the magazine articles & bill’s own text for facts to quote in your letters, faxes and e-mails.

Third, help create a backlash against H.R. 2454 by writing letters to the editor of your local newspapers against passage of the Cap and Trade bill. As citizens of your community you can help inform the public that this measure will ultimately help destroy jobs. Study the article in order have ammunition for your case.
Fourth, if you haven't joined yet, investigate The John Birch Society and see if you can help our 50-year old national organization to grow so we can awaken Americans to their danger, organize them to resist, and mobilize them on our educational campaigns so other citizens will join in.
Fifth, use this handout to find helpful websites that will be useful in your work. There are quotes here you can use in your letters, e-mails, and phone calls to opinion molders, congressmen, businessmen, and legislators. Use this information to alert people via social networking.
Sixth, don’t wait. Be actively engaged now to save our freedom of energy use, our freedom to be productive, our prosperity and our freedom of energy choices. Dare to SPEAK OUT NOW, before it’s too late.
Seventh, write e-mails to your U.S. Representatives as well to protest passage of the bill. Look for their vote and give them a thumbs-up if they voted against H.R. 2454, or a scolding if they voted for the bill.
