The outreach program of The John Birch Society has been very successful over the past several weeks ― so much so that we wanted to give you a report about it.
1. Slowing drastically the timetable for implementing the North American Union by the Insiders. A. Distributing and emailing links in the millions to our “Merger In The Making” issue of The New American. Well over a million either received the magazine or linked to our PDF online. B. Informing important opinion molders, especially legislators, by direct follow-up by our members. This has resulted in more than 20 states entering anti-NAU resolutions, 7 passing the resolutions, and a few more passing it in one house. C. The same can be said for the U.S. Congress with less noticeable results. D. Helping form national as well as state coalitions. In certain instances, these coalitions have literally shut down the NAFTA highways and other initiatives – for the time being. E. We have caused confusion and consternation among the Insiders on this program and they have been scrambling to implement alternatives and to obfuscate what they are doing. The latest financial crisis is an example of where they will now try economic means to merge. 2. Our pro-active Public Relations initiatives have placed the JBS message before a potential 70 million people in the past year. A. Outreach from this department has resulted in several contacts with media personnel nation-wide on several issues. B. While we have sustained three national attacks on the JBS in the media in 2008, the blow might have been much worse without the above. 3. Due to a generous donor, we were able to participate in the Rally for the Republic organized by Ron Paul supporters. This was not a political rally in the partisan sense but a “where do we go from here?” for the Paul online Meetup groups. It included a meeting of the leaders one day and a rally the next. At least 12,000 attended. A. We had a video and ticker on screen during the rally. B. We had a double booth which was visited by thousands. We distributed 4,000 DVDs of Overview of America. Our magazine and other flyers were likewise given out. A number have become online members. C. John F. McManus spoke to the 12,000 at the arena and his speech was carried live on three venues, including C-SPAN. The total live audience was approximately 100,000. D. Our influence among the youthful and inexperienced Paul organization can only help guide them to more effective action, help them recognize neutralizers, and help them understand that we fight a conspiracy. 4. Our 50th Anniversary Celebration reached out and included several non-member leaders who left greatly impressed with our potential, an impression they never would have received if they had not been here to see our headquarters, staff, and members. A. As a result of our outreach to allies, working together, the main Saturday night affair was carried live on one of the Ron Paul radio-online networks and heard by several hundred people. We broadcast it live on our website and had sent out an email alert to over 35,000 to tune in. We cannot measure the results. C-SPAN recorded the event for later broadcast. By the time these three venues are added up, a potential 100,000 will have heard or seen the affair. B. We posted Ron Paul’s speech on our website. As of this writing, over 8,000 have viewed the speech and an additional 100,000 have copied the code which will allow them to embed the video on their own websites, blogs, and social networking pages. By the time this settles down, a potential 250,000 will have come in contact with this video and the running logo on the screen of JBS.org, thus driving traffic to our website. 5. Dr. Chuck Baldwin was invited to speak at our 50th before he announced his candidacy for president. Mr. Welch never shied away from having presidential candidates at our affairs as long as they did not campaign. Examples would have been: George Wallace, Meldrim Thompson, and John Schmitz. Dr. Baldwin could not have been more gracious and his website following his appearance gave a glowing testimony of The John Birch Society with links back to our website. The views are about 3,000 and the embeddings are much less than the Paul speech. We have no idea of the potential views that will come back to our website on a regular basis as a result, but more than before. 6. Due to cooperating with others, a number of websites have posted all or parts of our DVD Overview of America. It has probably been seen by 500,000 people in the last two years and has played a major role in restoring understanding of the fact that we have a Republic, not a democracy. Over 60,000 of these DVDs have been distributed, including schools in some states. While these numbers may seem small compared to other recent online |
