I urge everyone to contact Governor Jan Brewer, both your state representatives, and your state senator to let them know that you are not willing to have your taxes raised to provide social services to illegal aliens.  I wrote the following e-mail to Governor Brewer on the subject:

Dear Governor Brewer:

I just read the Governor's Transmittal Letter regarding the FY2010 Budget from your webpage. I sincerely appreciate the efforts you are making to deal with Arizona's current budget crisis. However, I am not satisfied that you are doing everything the taxpayers have a right to expect you to do to cut costs before raising taxes during a recession.

There was no reference to Arizona's problem with illegal aliens in your letter, and no indication as to whether or not you support SB1175 which would make it a class 1 misdemeanor under Arizona law for anyone to be in Arizona who is not in the country legally. I am not willing to have my taxes raised to provide social services to illegal aliens and their American-born children.

I did not ask them to come here; I did not ask them to have kids here; and I am not willing to be taxed to provide them and their families a level of social services far above what they could have gotten in their countries of legal citizenship. Impoverished illegal aliens from around the world will continue to flock to our state as long as we continue richly to reward them for doing so.

SB1175 should be passed and signed into law as quickly as possible, and rigorously enforced. Arizona's illegal aliens should pack up their families and go collect public benefits somewhere else.

Sincerely,

John Lyon
