I sent the following e-mail to Arizona State Senator John Nelson:

Dear Senator Nelson:

I have heard that what started out as SB1175, the Criminal Trespass Bill, has returned to the Arizona Senate from the House as HB2280, The Sanctuary Cities Bill.  I checked the Sponsored Bills list on your website, and did not find either SB1175 or HB2280.

The Arizona Legislature and Governor are working now to determine what combination of spending cuts and tax increases to use to bring the state budget into balance.  I believe that Arizona's population of illegal aliens and their families should be induced to leave our state before the government starts cutting services and raising taxes for legal residents

The federal government has put out a Welcome! mat for illegal aliens.  Many court rulings have come down in their favor, and both Congress and the President have indicated their commitment to another mass amnesty.  Arizona has a vital interest in ensuring that our illegal aliens understand that they are not welcome here, that the police are looking for them, and that they will be prosecuted and jailed if caught.

I think that passage of HB2280 would be a great encouragement to Arizona's taxpayers.  Please let me know where you stand on this urgent matter.

Sincerely,

John Lyon
