I sent this e-mail to Glendale City Councilman David Goulet after reading his detailed reply to my e-mail about the proposed budget increase. He said that there wasn't much Glendale could do about illegal aliens or waste in the public schools, because these issues are settled at the state level, or school district level. Dear Councilman Goulet:
Thank you very much for your swift, informative, and substantive response to my e-mail regarding the Glendale City Council's recent resolution in support of Governor Jan Brewer's budget proposal. In recent months, I have written several e-mails on several different issues to all three members of the Arizona legislature from LD12, but have received exactly zero replies. I know that the governor and state legislators are all very busy, but when elected representatives don't respond to you, it makes you feel that they are not listening.
There is one very important thing that the City of Glendale could do in the area of illegal immigration: The City Council could direct Glendale Police to take action when they have probable cause to believe that immigration law is being violated. Let Glendale NOT be a sanctuary city. Let illegal aliens living in our city realize that the police are looking for them, and that they are in serious danger of apprehension. I believe that as illegal aliens pack up their families and leave our city, it will lower our crime rate and make it less costly to operate our public schools.
Sincerely,
John Lyon
