Arizona's Criminal Trespass Bill: SB1175, HB2280

I heard Arizona Senator Russell Pearce today (Tuesday, 25 August 2009) on J.D. Hayworth's radio program on 910 AM KFYI.  He indicated that the Criminal Trespass Bill that he sponsored passed the Arizona Senate twice but was bottled up by the House leadership.  They did finally send it to the floor at 3:00 am on the last day of the session.  That provided an excuse for members to absent themselves without taking a stand, and 19 of them did so.

Pearce said it was the most important legislation of the session.  I didn't hear the whole conversation, but I believe he plans to submit a Criminal Trespass proposition to the voters.  I will be a lot more likely to vote for that than for an increase in the state sales tax.
