Hello.... I'm new,  just joined today
So there was a forum before this one?  I have run a forum since 2000 and have had to start over (losing all the old posts) twice, it is always tough at first, getting all the old members to return, and starting new topics, but it all turned out good.

Welcome to all the newcomers :)

Yes, there was a forum here before but we ended up taking it down until we launched this new website. This forum is permanent, don't worry about it going away.

I would say that the forum is for people like me who just recently stumbled on to the JBS website, liked what I was reading, would like to know more about JBS and what type of people are members.

I kinda have an idea what the "mission" of JBS is, but would you help me out a bit and explain your take on the JBS Mission?

The JBS mission is pretty straightforward on its face -- less government, more responsibility, and with God's help, a better world. Ultimately, JBS members cherish freedom and believe the U.S. Constitution in its original intent is the best means of perserving freedom by limiting the powers of government yet devised. This post could go on into perpetuity on the particulars, so I'll leave it at that. Hopefully it provides some help. We also have a dedicated group of Field Staff who would be happy to talk with you at greater length.

You said "field staff"  just how wide spread is the John Birch Society?   I remember my pastor used to promote JBS when I was still in school (this was back in the early 80s)  but I haven't heard anything about them since, and in the past I was active with local Republican Party.....

Still getting used to the format, so I hope I am doing the "quote" thing right ;P

The JBS has a network of chapters in all 50 states working to preserve/defend the Constitution, and restore it where it has been eroded.

You should check out the community page.  There is probably a group there for your area.

Darn...... I looked at the Community page, then searched all the groups and could not find any around New Orleans or Louisiana.

Yeah I'm sure there are members nearby, if someone could point me to the right direction I'd be mighty grateful.

Yesterday I posted a large sign on the back of my truck "Silence is Complicity"  I ended up explaining the definition of "complicity" at least a half dozen times :)
