The situation:
President Obama's stealth government takeover of our health care system is starting to lose momentum. Earlier this week Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) announced that the full Senate will not vote on a health care reform bill until September. In contrast, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) still predicts that the full House will vote on its health care reform bill before the August recess; however, in light of the financial concerns of the Blue Dog Democrats in the House, this prediction by Pelosi is not a certainty.

For further information read "Why Obama's Government Takeover of Health Care Is Bogging Down," an article with many embedded videos and numerous links to recent news articles.

The prospects for passage of Obama's health care overhaul:
Whereas passage appeared to be a slam-dunk certainty a couple months ago, now defeat of the health care reform legislation appears possible.
The latest polls are showing a majority of Americans opposing Obama's health care proposal. The Rasmussen Reports "Presidential Approval Index," which has been declining slowly all year, crossed over into a negative rating early in July. The longer the wait for voting in the House and Senate, the more opportunity there will be for opponents of the overhaul to gather strength and potentially force defeat of the legislation.

The need for action is now:
The full House could vote as early as next week. The full Senate plans to vote in September. We need to ramp up the pressure on both the House and Senate to defeat any health care reform legislation which includes any provision for immediate or gradual transition to a single payer, completely government-funded and -operated health care system.
This will be tricky because President Obama and congressional leaders will no doubt appear to compromise on almost any aspect of this reform legislation in order to get something on the books that can be transformed gradually into their goal of a completely government-run health care system. And, you can't be too trusting of the Republicans on this issue. They have proven themselves quite capable of building Big Government during the years when they constituted the majority.

What you can do:
Contact your representative and senators immediately in strong opposition to the present legislative proposals to increase the extent of government involvement in health care. Send emails. Make phone calls and personal visits to district and DC (when feasible) offices (Click here to identify your representative and senators along with their office locations and phone numbers). Activate others in your social networks to do likewise. If we're going to stop this government takeover, we'll have to do a lot more than just send an email.

This health care legislation is a very big deal. We must not allow the 17 percent of our economy represented by health care to become completely government-run. Freedom and prosperity for you and me and our children and grandchildren are most definitely at stake.

Let's rise up, reject this Big Government thinking for once and for all, and restore our freedom under the Constitution as it was bequeathed to us by our Founding Fathers!

TAKE ACTION NOW to send an email to your representative and senators!
