Harming Penn State University's football program does nothing to advance justice. It simply means that the NCAA is going to punish a large number of people, such as the players involved in the program, the new coaches, and students and others who have an emotional or even financial vested interest in the program’s health, who had nothing to do with the child sex-abuse scandal.
Those who are determined to impose global governance on the rest of us have made great sport out of attacking anyone who dares oppose their plans. They have attacked those who challenge their claims of global warming by calling for “Nuremburg-style” show trials. Al Gore has actually called for violence against climate “skeptics.” And the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) has called those who oppose the policies of Barack Obama domestic terrorists.
The Wall Street Journal reported July 22 that Mitt Romney has gathered a coterie of establishment neoconservatives interested in war with Iran, as he embarks upon a trip to Europe. “Mitt Romney is relying on both moderate and hawkish neoconservative advisers as he embarks this week on his first overseas trip as the presumptive Republican presidential candidate,” the Journal stated.
Some of the biggest “Green” environmental organizations in the world engage in blatant deception and propaganda to fill their coffers, leaving destruction and ruined lives in their wake, according to Icelandic investigative journalist Magnus Gudmundsson. In an exclusive interview with The New American at the United Nations Rio+20 Conference on Sustainable Development last month, he also wondered whether the latest UN “sustainability” craze was simply more of the same fraud.
The shooting in the Aurora, Colorado, movie theater has incited the usual debate over guns. One side says tighter gun restrictions could have prevented the horrible incident that night. The other responds that more guns in the hands of law-abiding people might have prevented it.
In launching the first U.S.-based International AIDS Conference in more than 20 years, advocates are pushing for more attention and a boost in government funding for the 31-year-old epidemic. Dumping more money onto the already mounting pile of global AIDS funding could realistically cure the pandemic, supporters said Sunday during the event’s opening ceremony.
Since so many in the media cannot resist turning every tragedy into a political talking point, it was perhaps inevitable that (1) someone would try to link the shooting rampage at the Batman movie in Colorado to the Tea Party, and that (2) some would try to make it a reason to impose more gun control laws.
Planned Parenthood offered condolences to the family of a woman who hemorrhaged to death following an abortion at one of its Chicago clinics. Twenty-four-year-old Tonya Reaves died July 20 after undergoing what CBS News described as a “cervical dilation and evacuation” abortion procedure in the Planned Parenthood clinic at 18 S. Michigan Avenue. According to the Cook County medical examiner’s office, while the abortion procedure contributed to Reaves’ death, an intrauterine pregnancy was also listed as a factor.
The unveiling of another lavish employee event has added to the General Services Administration’s (GSA) already scandal-ridden status as a corrupt government agency notorious for taxpayer waste. Only three months after GSA officials were exposed for having spent more than $800,000 on a Las Vegas training conference, the department’s inspector general is launching an investigation into a Washington event that cost a sizable $270,000.
Rev. Jeremiah Wright told Ed Klein (author of The Amateur: Barack Obama in the White House) that, back in 2008, Barack Obama had asked him to refrain from controversial remarks while he ran for President. Wright said he told Obama he couldn’t make that promise. He said Obama then told him, “The problem with you, Rev, is that you’ve got to tell the truth.”
