The John Birch Society
President Obama’s “you didn’t build that” comment has become a top campaign issue. Romney called Obama’s remark “extraordinarily revealing,” an unveiling of “an ideology that somehow says it’s the collective and government that we need to celebrate.” The Obama campaign claims that the remark is being taken out of context.
Chicago Mayor and former White House Chief of Staff to President Barack Obama, Rahm Emanuel, has invited the controversial Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan to help in the city’s efforts to address the epidemic of crime that has engulfed it.
When people such as Emanuel and Moreno call Chick-Fil-A and its defenders intolerant, consider something. Chick-Fil-A is a family-owned business informed by biblical values, yet it serves homosexual customers. It doesn’t refuse to hire homosexual employees. And, despite its willingness to sacrifice prosperity for principle (all its restaurants are closed Sundays), it’ll still do business in cities that have rubber-stamped faux marriage. On the other hand, many liberals would deny traditionalists the right to do business simply because they disagree with the leftist agenda.
The government of Scotland has decided to disregard the wishes of two-thirds of its citizens and move ahead with legislation to legalize same-sex marriage. According to Britain’s Telegraph newspaper, Scottish Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon announced July 25 that she would push though legislation to legalize homosexual partnerships even though 64 percent of respondents to a recent public consultation indicated they opposed the move.
In the process of providing the world with improved transportation, Henry Ford accelerated the automotive industry, was a factor in the United States’ industrial growth and provided us a “freedom machine.”
Some Republican National Committee officials and people in the Romney campaign worry that supporters of Ron Paul will cause a ruckus and disrupt the GOP convention in August. However, the quest continues beyond Tampa and beyond 2012. The citizens of this nation have the right and the responsibility of returning power to the states and only electing to office in the general government those men and women committed to restraining themselves with the fetters of the Constitution and upholding their oaths to “preserve, protect, and defend” that document “from all enemies, foreign and domestic.”
Citizens of Michigan continue to press for passage of a state law that would nullify the execution of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) within the boundaries of the Great Lakes State. One such effort was begun by Michigan Representative Tom McMillin on June 14 when he introduced his bill to prevent the arrest and indefinite detention of citizens of his state under the authority of relevant provisions of the NDAA.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission is trying to force Buckyballs desk toys off the market over safety concerns, but the manufacturer is fighting back.
Drones believed to belong to the United States have been spotted flying over Somalia in violation of a UN arms embargo. President Obama has issued an executive order aiming to aid the peace and stability of that nation.
In an effort to curb an array of new regulations, House Republicans passed a bill Thursday that would shackle major federal rules until the national unemployment rate falls to six percent. Authored by Rep. Tim Griffin (R-Ark.), the legislation hones in on excessive or poorly-written rules that could halt job growth and impose burdensome costs on American businesses.
