The John Birch Society
For the past several months, Zbigniew Brzezinski, National Security Adviser to President Jimmy Carter and architect of David Rockefeller’s Trilateral Commission, has been hawking his umpteenth book, Strategic Vision: America and the Crisis of Global Power. As usual, Dr. Brzezinski can count on the establishment press to sell plenty of copies and keep the royalties rolling in with favorable reviews and lots of face time. The New York Times' reviewer opined that in Strategic Vision Brzezinski “provides a clear-eyed, sharp-tongued assessment of this hinge moment in time, when the world’s center of gravity is shifting ‘from the West to the East.’”
As the United Nations prepares for its next global conference on “sustainable development” in June, the Texas state GOP recently followed in the footsteps of the Republican National Committee (RNC) by passing a resolution blasting the controversial UN sustainability scheme known as Agenda 21, as well as all of the entities working toward its implementation. Advocates of liberty and national sovereignty celebrated the move as yet another victory in a decades-old battle against the plan.
Record warm temperatures throughout mid-March have had at least one predictable outcome: the global warming alarmism is back in fashion this Spring. Despite the fact that even advocates of the theory are only willing to say that manmade climate change "likely contributed on the order of 5% to 10% of the magnitude of the heat wave during 12-23 March," this fact is being kept far from the headlines.
Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.) is renewing his push for legislation that would amend how the federal government assesses the U.S. unemployment rate. When calculating national unemployment, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) currently omits those individuals who have given up looking for work, making the overall joblessness rate appear substantially lower than it actually is.
Former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum announced his withdrawal from the presidential race April 10, citing excessive campaign debt and daunting delegate math in upcoming primaries. “We made a decision over the weekend, that while this presidential race for us is over, for me, and we will suspend our campaign today, we are not done fighting,” Santorum said in his concession speech in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.
One of the big selling points of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), better known as ObamaCare, was that despite its massive new spending initiatives it would somehow reduce the federal deficit. But a new study by Medicare trustee Charles Blahous finds that absent repeal of major provisions of ObamaCare, the law could add as much as $527 billion to the deficit over the next decade.
The Obama administration is quietly steering about $500 million to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to help bolster the President’s healthcare overhaul, despite efforts in the Supreme Court to strike down the law. The half-billion-dollar transfer is only a snapshot of the IRS’s total ObamaCare implementation spending, and it is being siphoned outside of the traditional appropriations process.
With the death toll of the latest jihadist attack in Nigeria now at 41, Christians in that country can draw little consolation from the government’s assurances that the attack could have been far worse. Boko Haram — Nigeria’s most violent jihadist organization — has already murdered over 1,000 people since the beginning of 2011, and there is little evidence that its terror campaign will end any time soon.
Disregarding the concerns of many in his party and many of the citizens who elected him, Idaho Governor Butch Otter is headed back to China to continue courting the world’s largest communist regime and second largest economy.
The governments of the United States and the United Kingdom are permitting the sale of state of the art surveillance equipment to some of the world’s most notorious regimes. Concerned citizens in both nations worry that these devices will be employed by the buyers to monitor activists and those who dare speak out against governmental oppression.
