Asia Bibi is a mother of five children and a devout Christian. She is also on death row — for “blasphemy.” And incredibly, she lives under a government that receives billions of U.S. taxpayer dollars every year: Pakistan, one of the top recipients of American foreign aid. Over the last 10 years, the Pakistani regime has raked in well over $20 billion from U.S. taxpayers.
On Tuesday, the European Court of Human Rights issued a ruling permitting the United Kingdom to extradite to the United States six men suspected by the U.S. of committing acts of terrorism.
The special prosecutor investigating the shooting death of Trayvon Martin has charged the shooter, George Zimmerman, with second-degree murder, according to news reports.  Zimmerman, who went into hiding with his family after members of the New Black Panther Party (NBPP) put a bounty on his head, turned himself in after Angela Corey announced the charge.
According to the latest numbers from the federal government’s National Center for Health Statistics, the birth rate among American teens is at its lowest since the mid 1940s. Officials with the reporting agency, part of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), credited “strong pregnancy prevention messages” for the decrease, and added that use of contraceptives “may have contributed.”
In its ongoing move to establish a full nanny state, the state of California has passed laws intended to minimize car use and carbon dioxide emissions. Those laws are now leading to policies that permit the state to mandate that up to 30 homes may be built on a single acre of land, in an effort to assuage concerns by climate-change advocates that humans are taking up too much space.
When Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), Chairman of the House Budget Committee, summarized his tax and spend plan, he used standard Republican rhetoric in explaining it.
As controversy continues swirling around the shooting of Trayvon Martin, the family of George Zimmerman, the man who shot Martin, has demanded that U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder explain why he has not pursued charges against the New Black Panther Party, which put a bounty on Zimmerman’s head and is now threatening to start a “race war.”
Only hours after Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum suspended his campaign yesterday, GOP contender Ron Paul opened a three-city tour in his home state on the campus of Texas A&M University in College Station to an overflow crowd of about 2500. He pressed ahead with his message of liberty to the eager gathering, with an additional 500 people viewing him remotely from outside the auditorium.
Wyoming has settled a lawsuit with a pro-life group that sued the state after officials removed its pro-life displays from a tunnel leading to the state Capitol. Rich Cathcart, head of the Wyoming State Building Commission, admitted that he had ordered the removal of two poster boards placed in the tunnel by WyWatch Family Action, a state pro-life group, claiming that his office had received complaints about the displays. As reported by the Associated Press, one of the posters included the graphic image of an unborn baby, while the other featured a group of women expressing their regrets about having abortions.
For the past several months, Zbigniew Brzezinski, National Security Adviser to President Jimmy Carter and architect of David Rockefeller’s Trilateral Commission, has been hawking his umpteenth book, Strategic Vision: America and the Crisis of Global Power. As usual, Dr. Brzezinski can count on the establishment press to sell plenty of copies and keep the royalties rolling in with favorable reviews and lots of face time. The New York Times' reviewer opined that in Strategic Vision Brzezinski “provides a clear-eyed, sharp-tongued assessment of this hinge moment in time, when the world’s center of gravity is shifting ‘from the West to the East.’”
