Former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum told a Georgia megachurch that President Obama is "trampling on a constitutional right" by forcing Catholic institutions to pay for contraception through healthcare coverage. The GOP presidential candidate added that Obama "is imposing his ideology on a group of people expressing their theology, their moral code." Lawmakers in Virginia and Oklahoma approved “personhood” legislation last week to recognize that human life begins at conception, drawing praise from pro-life activists and fury from abortion advocates. Analysts say neither of the bills would immediately ban abortions, but a prohibition would kick in if and when the Supreme Court’s Roe vs. Wade ruling is undone.
In concluding his three-state, three-day tour on Friday, President Obama made a flashy appearance at Boeing’s aircraft assembly plant in Washington State, where he touted the manufacturing accomplishments of the world’s largest aerospace company. During the visit, the President asserted that Boeing, a top U.S. exporter, is a world-class model of an American company spurring economic growth through overseas commerce.
Under the guise of environmentalism, various federal agencies and departments are blocking Border Patrol agents’ access to critical areas while contributing to widespread lawlessness along the U.S. border, according to experts. Criminals, meanwhile, are taking full advantage of the rapidly deteriorating situation.
On Thursday, the presiding judge in the military tribunal of Guantánamo Bay detainee Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri denied the request made by al-Nashiri’s counsel to issue a subpoena to Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh. The defendant argues that Saleh is a material witness in the case against him and should be compelled to testify.
The federal government will pay $350,000 to a group of illegal immigrants and permit them to stay in the country pursuant to a settlement reached in a lawsuit they filed after they were arrested.
A pro-homosexual activist group calling itself Faithful America wants Tony Perkins, spokesman for the Family Research Council (FRC), to shut up, and its members have launched a campaign to try to make that happen. Led by Gene Robinson, the homosexual bishop who helped to tear apart the Episcopal Church, the group has launched a petition drive in an attempt to pressure MSNBC to stop inviting Perkins as a guest commentator on its news shows.
The sovereign states are courageously asserting their constitutionally protected right to self-determination by standing up to the federal government and refusing to execute the most noxious provisions of the recently enacted National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).
The Washington crowd can’t be bothered with budgets anymore — at least not in the dictionary sense of the word, as in (a) something cheap, i.e., a budget coat, or (a) attempting to balance expenses with expected income, or even (c) producing a realistic estimate of revenue, spending, and red ink.
The Veterans for Ron Paul are planning a march on the White House on Monday, with the theme "Ron Paul is the Choice of the Troops."  According to a report published in the Washington Times, the march will take place on Monday, February 20 — President's Day.
