From the West
by Bliss Tew, Regional Field Director
On February 12, in Bismark, North Dakota, JBS members reached out to 900 people gathered at a Tea Party event. Dan Rugroden from Fargo acquired permission for a JBS booth from the GOP HQ. According to member Eldon Stahl, their bannered table focused on distribution of reprinted articles and the “Overview of America” DVD. Speakers included Grover Norquist, Governor Hoeven, and Michele Bachman. Next, Birchers will target the Dakota Home School Association conference in Fargo where there should be 1,000 people in attendance.
In Yakima, Washington, new Section Leader Sandi Belzer has worked to find and appoint new chapter leaders to build and develop new JBS chapters in Selah, Yakima, and Zillah. One of her Section’s first projects is to sponsor a John F. McManus speech on May 25.
JBS members in Utah supported successful passage of H.J.R. 6, a Tenth Amendment resolution, and S.B. 11, the Utah State Firearms Protection Act (http://le.utah.gov/~2010/bills/sbillint/sb0011.pdf ). Utah members also helped convince Governor Herbert to sign S.B. 11.
Wyoming Birchers such as Lisa Beachell and Chapter Leader Linda Bergeron worked to educate Wyoming legislators about the dangers of an Article V Convention by distributing the “Beware of Article V” DVD. H.J.R. 3 was thus killed.
Montana Coordinator Robert Brown saw 120 people attend his latest Constitution presentation.
Spring/summer speeches by John F. McManus are being planned for Yakima, Spokane, Hamilton, Kalispell, Helena, Billings, Casper, Boise, Twin Falls, Idaho Falls, Salt Lake City, Mesa, Las Vegas, Universal City, and Sacramento.
