UPDATE 11/23/08: Click here to see videos of Ron Paul's speech at the Houston END the FED! rally on November 22. Click here to see videos of Ron Paul questioning Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke about a new international currency on November 18.

END the FED! rallies are planned for 39 cities on Saturday, November 22. For further information on these rallies see http://www.endthefed.us.

Ron Paul will be speaking at the Houston rally along with other elected officials and community leaders.

Although the John Birch Society is not an official endorser or sponsor of the END the FED! rallies, we completely agree with the purpose of the rallies, which is to help create sufficient grassroots pressure to bring about the eventual abolition of the Federal Reserve System. We also agree with the secondary emphasis by the rally organizers on the need for restoring sound money to replace the completely unbacked, fiat money system created by and sustained by the Fed. Practically, competing sound money currencies based on gold and silver should be established before the abolition of the Fed to minimize economic dislocations; however, the "END the FED!" rallying cry has the virtue of focusing attention precisely on the institution at the center of the "Fiat Empire."

I posted a blog, "Restoring Our Freedom and Prosperity by Restoring Sound Money a la Ron Paul," a few weeks ago that incorporates Ron Paul's speech of February 13, 2008, which provided a fairly detailed prescription for how to establish competing currencies prior to abolishing the Federal Reserve. This same blog also provides links to the three bills he introduced in the House in 2007-2008 to pave the way for competing currencies along with a link to his H.R. 2755 ("Federal Reserve Board Abolition Act") bill to abolish the Fed.

We've also prepared an "END the FED!" handout (see sides 1 and 2 at right; download endfedcard1.pdf and endfedcard2.pdf files for printing two-sided flyers) for the use of our chapter members, Meetup members, or anyone else who wants to use them to give to other attendees at the November 22 rallies. However, before passing out large quantities of the handouts, you should let your local rally organizers take a look at what you plan to distribute and get their OK.

Our "END the FED!" flyer provides the URL for an easy way to send an email message to your representative and senators requesting support for ending the Fed and establishing sound money. Just go to http://capwiz.com/jbs/home/ to send an "END the FED" message yourself.

Our handout also directs attention to our ongoing campaign to "Make Congress Constitutional," known as the JBS.org Freedom Campaign Meetup Alliance. This Alliance consists of 155 JBS.org Freedom Campaign Meetup groups and other like-minded social networking groups around the nation. A convenient ZIP search function is provided to find your nearest group. Currently, one of our Alliance's highest priorities is a campaign project to Restore Our Freedom and Prosperity by Restoring Sound Money. A key goal of this campaign is, of course, ending the Fed.

Our newest campaign tool is a 45-minute video presentation, Dollars and $ense, which explains the nature of money and inflation, the Federal Reserve's role in inflation, and the need for restoring sound money. Click here for a list of our other campaign tools.

Let's all work to END the FED and take our lives back!
