Poll Results: Who Do You Support For President?

By a large margin, the most pro-freedom, conservative Americans prefer either Chuck Baldwin or Bob Barr for president.

Poll ResultsIf you read this Website, you are probably a staunch advocate of liberty and freedom, an admirer of the Founding Fathers, a social conservative, an anti-communinst, a homeschooler, or just an average American worried about the future of the country. If you fall into one or more of these categories, who will you support for president?

We wondered, so we asked. Beginning in July, we asked visitors to this site to let us know who they supported. Now that the two major parties have identified their candidates, we think it's time to reveal the results.

After 5,969 votes, the majority of visitors to this site indicated that Chuck Baldwin would be the best president in 2008. Coming in a close second was Bob Barr, the former Republican turned Libertarian Party Candidate.

We were not surprised to see Barr and Baldwin at the top. We were midly surprised, however, to see that "None of the above" came in ahead of either of the two major party candidates, particularly in the case of John McCain.

Our mild surprise has nothing to do with any misperception on our part of Senator McCain's conservative credentials. In the most recent "Freedom Index," published by our affiliate magazine, The New American, McCain managed only a paltry 40 percent and likely would have scored worse still had he voted on more of the issues we tracked. Nevertheless, as the Repubican candidate, we expected many to support him as the so-called "viable alternative." We're glad that so many of our readers and members have seen through that charade.
