From the South
by Dan Sexson, Regional Field Director
I just have to brag about the members in the great state of Oklahoma. Field Coordinator Mitch Shaw, reports that Chapter Leader Mike Sawyer held a Group Recruiting Presentation (GRP) in Poteau, Okla. (2007 population: 8,246). With 48 present, 40 were prospects. Nine joined that night, and with follow up, three additional new members joined. Total membership is now 20. Mike is working with his members to build a section of three chapters in Poteau.
Mike is a Chapter Leader working with a team of Section Leaders, including Don Crosson and Bob Donohoo of the Oklahoma City area, and Charlie Meadows. Don and Bob are holding weekly Leader Training Sessions (Tuesdays) and Group Recruiting Presentations (Thursdays). As they sign up new members at the GRPs, they pull the potential leaders into the Leader Training Sessions. When a new Chapter is formed, they have a new leader trained and ready for action.
They have formed two sections of three Chapters in the last year. At the first Leader Training Session in May, Bob challenged the existing chapter leaders to build one new chapter in their area. As Bob and Don work with the chapter leaders to build more, their goal is to turn the two existing sections of chapters into six sections of 18 chapters, thereby successfully applying John C. Maxwell’s advice in The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership, chapter 21, “The Law of Explosive Growth.” Now begin duplicating/multiplying the strength of The John Birch Society in your area! Let’s begin duplicating/multiplying the strength of The John Birch Society in all areas!
