Members of The John Birch Society find themselves today much as the Marines did during a desperate battle at the Chosin Reservoir during the Korean War.  Legendary Marine Colonel "Chesty" Puller informed his men once they were surrounded by the enemy, "We have them exactly where we want them, so shoot in any direction and don't let any get away."

The Obama administration has the American people surrounded with unconstitutional and dangerous measures that are eroding our freedoms and our nation's independence. If enough Americans fail to act responsibly, our country will suffer the disease of collectivism which could be terminal and none of us will get away.

Consider a few illustrations:  the huge economic bailouts to companies that should be allowed to fail; billions of dollars to banking institutions owned or controlled by Insiders; automobile companies given huge bailouts but still forced into bankruptcy because of taxes and regulations forced on them by the very federal government now willing to take them over run them in an unbusinesslike manner.

The Law of The Sea Treaty (LOST) will be considered by the U.S. Senate later this year. In addition to abandoning our rights to the oceans of the world, this treaty is obviously an effort to reinvigorate a hopelessly corrupt and failed United Nations.

National health care is now rearing it ugly head. Similar programs in other countries demonstrated that they do not work for the benefit of the people. Nevertheless, the bureaucrats in Washington, along with Insider organizations and leftist foundations, will create a major push for the passage of some type of health care legislation this year.

The Department of Homeland Security recently issued a document entitled "Domestic Extremism Lexicon." It portrays "Rightwing Extremism" in the following manner:

          • "those who are mainly antigovernment and reject
             federal authority in favor of state or local authority."

          • "movements that are dedicated to a single issue, such
             as opposition to abortion or immigration."


It  is infuriating to know that the DHS has described 75 percent of Americans as "Rightwing Extremists," including every state governor, legislator, mayor, councilman/woman, or anyone else who believes in the right to life, legal immigration, and the Constitution of the United States.

Many Tea Party rallies will be held across the country on July 4th, and members of the Society should be at them in force to distribute the End the Fed Slim Jim flyer and our DVD Beware of Article V.

The importance of the warning about the Con-Con has been made clear in recent weeks when some of the forces behind the tea party rallies are now calling for a Constitutional Convention.  Birchers must alert those who will participate in the July 4th programs about the dangers of a Con-Con.
