“Play or pay,” that’s the comment from Rep. Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.) for Americans who refuse to participate in the government’s newly proposed health care plan. So, as of this posting, an unspecified penalty will be applied to any non-participant. After all, Rangel said, "There is no use having a mandate without a contribution."

Madame Secretary Clinton, while still a New York senator, said that national health care had to be mandated and that garnishing wages was the only way to fix those who remained non-compliant, so the idea isn’t new. In fact, it seems to have been the plan all the time.

And that’s what Obama and the democrats’ health care plan is — a mandate. All Americans without insurance will be required to purchase the government’s “affordable” health insurance. Waivers for the poor will be considered, but the government will decide just who fits that category. Plus, Obama and company are considering taxing certain health insurance benefits as an option for garnering even more for the health care coffers.

Out of the Senate Finance Committee come several options for taxing benefits. Some could be levied against the value of an employer-provided plan, or on benefits received by upper level income taxpayers.

This new taxation doesn’t seem to be a bit problematic for President Obama who promised not to raise taxes on anyone earning $250,000 or less during his campaign. Now, though, he has “stepped up” his involvement on getting his health care reform plan moving forward, says the Associated Press, in light of some Congressional opposition -- all republican, of course.

Today, the president is to wing his way to Green Bay on his 747, using tons of expensive fuel, to “listen” to the “concerns of the people” during a townhall-style meeting, which many people believe is a cheerleading expedition for the socialized health plan. “The people,” you see, are having terrible problems getting available tickets -- the White House said tickets would be assigned to names chosen from those who register by phone or online. Seems the requirements and window for obtaining the tickets was strictly guarded, some say, in order to stack the audience.

But never mind, the government is working on the best health care plan for you that will cost well over $1 trillion, which they will extract from you one way or the other, even after their plan to cut projected Medicare payments to home health care, pharmaceutical companies, insurance companies, and hospitals is put into place.

Under the new system, which is definitely not a reform nor an overhaul, but a dictate, you’ll get your choice of a government plan, or an expensive one through a private insurer that is overseen by the government. Everyone simply must be allowed to enjoy the glories of "free" healthcare.

The Founders could never in their wildest nightmares have foreseen such a horror.

Republican "opposition" "Of course" needs set in context. Of course - because they are playing the two-party-only-and-THEY-are-the-bad-guy game. Against the public. The Republicans, when they did have a majority in both Houses and the White House: >Did not end abortion, or even attempt it (with the rhetorical partial-birth abortion "ban" actually enshrining Roe v. Wade in legislative principle, worse than any lives it might save; which is none, because they can be done a day earlier, or "illegally" with no punishment). >Passed much of the Hillary care that Rush had decried years ago. Once they got headlines for "defeating" it, they then proceeded to pass it piecemeal. Now demonized Democrats to the headline dirty work. They get blamed, people react by voting in more "conservative" Republicans. And they go toast each other during weekend parties.
