Hope. Yes, there is hope, and we want every good American to know that there is. In my recent two-part column entitled “Victory Denied,” I briefly outlined several reasons why we have not succeeded in defeating the Conspiracy outright over the past 50 years. What follows is a brief outline containing reasons why there is hope for the future. There certainly is hope if we are serious enough in our determination, both as individuals and with our organizational efforts in league with those kindred spirits who will utilize our organization. As you will see, I place emphasis on the latter. Organization is the key to effective use of education. It is the tool that can create wide enough understanding among key people and then, in turn, have them spread greater understanding and generate meaningful action. Because of the recent prominence of the healthcare debate, we were motivated to listen once again to the wisdom in Robert Welch’s early 1960s address, “Medicine Leads the Way.” In this speech, he pointed out the need for wider realization of a historical fact. He said, “… that there have been two great struggles throughout all human history. One is between good and evil; the other is between individualism and collectivism.” He added that today, the two negative forces, evil and collectivism, have been combined into nearly a single force, since most of the evil we see today emanates from communism’s work: drugs, pornography, etc. The emphasis here should be on the word “combined,” for the forces of evil and/or collectivism have always been organized throughout history. Rarely have good and individualism been combined or been organized in the political sense, and certainly not on a sustained basis. For it seems that man is a contentious and cantankerous cuss. And evil people have always been able to use these traits against their fellow man. The result has been that good people have been prevented from organizing effectively because of schisms within any group, as well as quarrelling amongst themselves instead of working together against evil or collectivism’s dictatorship. Thus, over the centuries and with rare exceptions, man has repeatedly suffered under the yoke of too much government in one of its many forms because of two reasons, the first of which stems from a lack of effective organization by good people who would oppose evil and collectivism. Once the forces of good struggled their way to victory, such as occurred when men came together in our original Thirteen Colonies, their alliance dissolved into petty quarrels and factions, which history has shown resulted from conspiratorial influence out of Europe. Since the founding of our nation and the adoption of the Constitution, our country has been steadily deteriorating into a morass of more government and less responsibility across both public and private life. At first, the agitation for destroying our liberty was heated, and it met enough resistance to cause it to fail in efforts to bring our infant nation down almost immediately. Since then, destructiveness has proceeded more slowly, with the forces arrayed against our Constitution and personal liberty employing patient gradualism. However, there have been occasional accelerations when the conspiracy used an opportunity to move forward more rapidly. In such cases, the forces of evil and collectivism organized the acceleration. Now we come to the second reason that people have been susceptible to the yoke of government: a lack of understanding. Many would put this reason first. Why I do not do so stems from my desire to emphasize the need for organization. There are many millions who have perished at the hand of their own government while having understanding but not having organization. Understanding has a broad definition that includes not only a good education but also experience. And we can always hope for the additional ingredient of a moral conscience that impels men to do what is right simply because it is right, while all history shows that refusing to do so leads to negative consequences. A conspiracy has operated throughout our nation’s history, generally with most of the American people being unaware of its existence. Nor have so many good Americans been aware of how it has been organized or how it has proceeded toward its evil goal. This conspiracy, quite simply, is a secret cabal of persons desirous of destroying not only the liberty of the people with the accumulation of power unto themselves, but also obliterating Christianity, family, and any allegiances that could serve to prevent or undo its power. It certainly has always sought to destroy loyalty to country except when that loyalty can be twisted into accepting more government during war. It is true that the outer rings of organization of this conspiracy were visible, from the Jacobins, Democratic Clubs, the group known as Young America, and a variety of minor players such as socialists, communists, Darwinians, the Council on Foreign Relations, etc. But the matrix that spawned them remained in the deep shadows. Since this matrix lay hidden, the conspiracy had little to fear from the real but innocent concerns of the average American. Its leaders could work gradually to accumulate power in the government for themselves in an echelon movement. And then, while simultaneously building up this power, they could build their organizations to acquire even more power, using these same outer rings to deprive Americans of the necessary education and means to maintain their liberty. In short, the population was purposely dumbed down with an increasingly deficient education system. One would think that Americans of years past would have been capably equipped to withstand many of the “low-lights” of our political history, especially those events that imposed more government controls. Some of these included:
We could list many other examples of government’s acquisition of power. But the point is that while we recognize today the dire consequences of such acts, we expect that our predecessors would have been better educated to understand them and that they would have prevented these direct and indirect intrusions on liberty. But they didn’t and the people were saddled with these burdens. These various takeovers were imposed because: 1) the general population lacked understanding; and 2) some knowledgeable individuals who did understand what was going on did not organize resistance in any meaningful way. In the mid-Twentieth Century, a man with great vision and the will to carry his vision forward, Robert Welch, launched The John Birch Society. The significance of what he created is that, for the first time in history, an organization was begun that was designed not only to educate people but also to organize them. First, JBS was created to preserve American freedom and independence, and then work to spread these twin accomplishments beyond our land to other parts of the world. The organization he gave us was designed to promote freedom in its entirety, not just dwell on a single issue or engage in partisan politics. It is an organization designed to last centuries, not simply for a particular time or a series of campaigns. And, it was organized in such a fashion to be able to resist direct attacks by the conspiracy as well as to keep going despite any internal schisms that might arise. It had never been done before. From its very outset, our Society won small victories and set back the timetable set by the Insiders for implementation of many truly draconian measures. Our efforts have forced delays and even compelled the enemy to alter his tactics. We have no doubt that the overall timetable of this conspiracy has been set back several times. For the first time, it has met opposition on a sustained basis. However, we have not yet achieved complete victory because of the reasons mentioned in my previous columns. One of the more frustrating developments we have seen in the recent past is that large movements begin and hold rallies and dinners but fail to do much in the way of true outreach unless our members became leaders in these efforts. Members of our organization have repeatedly developed successful outreach programs, constantly adding new people to the fight, and then seen the superficial organizations capture the credit when success was achieved. Undoubtedly, we will see this happen again. After this laborious introduction, I finally come to the point about why it is my belief that there is great hope for victory laying just before us. All of the signs indicate that the American people are stirring. A sizeable percentage of the people are fed up. Many are organizing to solve the problems but most lack sufficient understanding and/or experience to work for a real solution. Couple this with the conspiracy’s infiltrators deftly employing persuasion, and in some cases out and out bribery, to throw these organizations off track with false solutions and mere political leadership. In the long run, most of these organizations will quickly fade away. They will disappear because of ineffectiveness resulting from temporary or false solutions, or because they created only demonstrations or rallies. Frustration will result among those who had been suddenly energized because nothing got changed. Inevitably, many who got involved for good reason will develop an “I give up” attitude. Unless we help them understand. Remember, massive demonstrations against communism in countries such as Venezuela didn’t prevent some countries from going communist. Now, in Venezuela, the opposition can’t get people out in the numbers they once did for fear of government reprisal. Demonstrations peter out for all sorts of reasons and in the end nothing becomes changed because the people were in the streets instead of in the homes of their neighbors and opinion molders — educating them and organizing them, so they would resist on a day by day, hour by hour basis. Without knowledge of the background of some issues and persons, newly concerned Americans can be persuaded to promote such false solutions as term limits, a constitutional convention (con-con), a different form of taxation, and other initiatives given the label “conservative.” And, of course, there are the usual CFR members being suggested as better leaders, men like Newt Gingrich. Since we in The Birch Society are aware of these pitfalls, we can educate these newly awakened Americans and set them on a course for success rather than frustration and failure. And, when they see the value of our organization, many will join with us. There can be little doubt that if it had not been for the work of our members, continuing in their efforts over the past five decades, the remnant we see growing into a massive movement at this critical time would not have become a reality. Some have criticized us for encouraging our members to befriend the people in the new movements that have sprung up during the past year. How can we influence them if we do not? After a time, one has to ask if such advice serves our side or the enemy’s side. Friendly persuasion works; standoffish criticism only irritates people. Let us do what works and let the results speak for themselves. And, by the way, as a result of our members’ efforts in several states, support for a con-con has already been blunted. But the fight is far from over. The sheer number of these new people gives us great hope for the future. We are especially encouraged because the underpinning of these new groups appears to be a real love and appreciation for the Constitution. And the fact that the usual name-calling by the socialists and big government promoters trying to derail their efforts has reached a fever pitch is also encouraging. It means that those who do the work of the conspiracy are hurting and afraid. For the record, we have only one rule for cooperating with others: We will do so as long as we do not betray our principles or harm our reputation in the process. We continually see that the Internet is providing education, the idea of getting involved, and impetus for organization. It is a hopeful sign for the future. For the first time in history, huge numbers of people can become informed and alerted instantly. With our organization, we are able to do so within hours and days amongst our own circle of influence. And our influence is rippling out further as the days and weeks unfold. With our use of the Internet, our influence has become wider and instantaneous. Both aspects of our growing influence are needed. A recent example of the use of the Internet is the general education about the pitfalls of government healthcare and the involvement of the public in trying to prevent it. The uprising of the average citizen, linking himself with others through online social networking, has generated real worry within the Left where all sorts of reasons have been offered as to why the average American should be ignored. The most astonishing excuse used by the Left is that these people are organized and not really genuine constituents! It seems that the Left cannot stand anyone organizing better than they do. Let me sum this up. Over the 230+ years of our country’s history, a conspiracy’s agents have organized and propelled their agenda forward on a continued basis with rare interruptions in their devilish progress. For the first time in history, an organization for liberty was formed to defeat the conspiracy and continue on, not only to spread liberty throughout this land, but throughout the world. And to do so for centuries, not just for the immediate “emergency.” Since 1959, our Society has provided steady opposition, and even defeated some key initiatives in the agenda leading to a New World Order, the ultimate goal of the conspiracy. What we have accomplished has slowed down the timetable for achieving the NWO by at least 40 years. Despite all of the time, energy, and money thrown into stopping the constitutional movement in the United States, it is alive and growing — growing through concerted education and action. One example alone is our DVD, Overview of America, that has sold almost 100,000 copies. This does not count two other means of dissemination of this powerful message: the “pirating” of copies (which is substantial) and the proliferation of all or parts of Overview on some 12,400 websites. Not to mention some of the roughly 500,000 people who we guesstimate have seen this program in some form or fashion in the last two years. We do see the influence of this DVD at work in the resurgence of knowledge that our country is a republic not a democracy, and in calls for adherence to the Constitution. The Dollars & $ense DVD may ultimately surpass Overview in copies sold because it has taken half the time to reach the 50,000 copy plateau than did Overview. It deals with a hot topic, but it also demonstrates the growth of our influence over the last two years. Never in the history of our movement has such primary education received this level of popularity, due to three factors: our organization promoting the DVDs, the use of the Internet, and the thirst for truth among the population, especially the young. As we connect with these thirsty people and give them greater knowledge coupled with our organizational experience, we will gain even more influence and an ability to thwart the plans of the Insiders. We will be frustrated from time to time with the lack of understanding of new people coming into the fight. And the Insiders will continue to place roadblocks in the path of the constitutional movement. However, if we are there, as friends and not critics or arrogant know-it-alls, we will quickly remove these roadblocks. But none of this will happen if we stay at home and engage in demeaning our potential allies who want to do something, rather than mentoring them and working with them. As a result of recent bailouts and takeover of some of the banking system by government, we have witnessed a growing awareness among the newly converted that there is a cabal behind the scenes. It has served to reinforce our claim about conspiracy with those we have tried to alert to this reality for years. A very sizable percentage of people now realize that our problems are due, not to ignorance or stupidity, but to design. The Insiders are in a Catch 22. The more brazen and open they become, the more they awaken their intended victims. As they do so, we shall see even more people asking what is going on and searching for answers. They will be in the hundreds of thousands, — even millions. The more we build our influence and the more we organize, the more likely it is that we will enlist enough people and prevail. If the Insiders realize that they are moving too fast and become fearful that the sleeping American giant may awaken, they will need to step back and that too will work in our favor. It will give us more time to organize and defeat them. Yes, indeed, there is reason for real hope. |
