Rachel Maddow Recycles Falsehoods Against the John Birch Society
Monday, 21 December 2009 15:20

Rachel MaddowMSNBC's Rachel Maddow launched an error-riddled attack against the John Birch Society in her December 18 show, nominally because the John Birch Society has become a sponsor of the upcoming February 2010 Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, D.C.

In addition to falsely claiming the John Birch Society labeled fluoridation of water a “communist mind-control plot” (it never did), Maddow claimed:

And they contended that the secret conspiracy to destroy America encompassed everything from that darned fluoride to the League of Women Voters and the Civil Rights Act. The John Birch Society was in fact so opposed to civil rights that they responded to the Supreme Court's Brown v. Board of Education decision to desegregate schools with billboards calling for the impeachment of the Supreme Court's Chief Justice.

But just like her erroneous claim that the JBS had opposed fluoridation as a communist mind control plot (it actually opposed fluoridation as a precedent for the socialized medicine Maddow supports and, incidentally, was part of the Soviet communist state), the other claims were false as well.

While the JBS did support the impeachment of Earl Warren for ignoring the limits of the U.S. Constitution by expanding federal powers almost without limit (not for ending discrimination against African-Americans in the South), the JBS did not call the League of Women Voters part of the communist plot.

Ironically, Maddow accused the John Birch Society of widely ruining people's reputations by unfounded accusations while doing the same herself:

I'm sure they've ruined people's lives as being sort of fueling (sic) McCarthyism and I'm sure they've had some really bad impact on American politics. But they are so conspiratorial. I mean, these are the New World Order black helicopter folks, aren't they?

Actually, no, Ms. Maddow. They aren't.

It is only natural that this would happen...

As JBS continues to grow in numbers and influence it only makes sense that the main-stream media would take notice and begin their attacks. We need to prepare our newest members and Racheal Maddow has provided us with some great material to use.

Maddow is as predictable as she is inaccurate...

See Jim Capo's video response on BirchTube

Jim overlays a textual response to Maddow's video showing her many errors. This is an excellent view worth passing along to newer members.

Yes indeed, Mr. Donahoo

She is as predictable as she is innacurate. But isn't that just absolutely typical of the "liberal" left? Lies and smears are two of their favorite tactics. Seems that they like to steal too by using the earnings of others, via the out-of-control fedgov, to finance their favorite causes.

I guess we must be perceived as a threat again to deserve such a distorted diatribe on national TV. Thanks, Ms. Maddow; you've just proven all our efforts are not in vain.

Rachel doesn't smear, doesn't lie, doesn't distort.

Taking her on when she's right is possibly the dumbest thing you can do. The only thing that would possibly compete would be to go on her show to take her on in person (see Berman, Rick or Cohen, Richard).

Don't pick a fight you can't win. Never hearing of Rachel Maddow doesn't stop her from being completely right. Within this site, the evidence will never be shown, I'm sure, but tonight the official John Birch Society documents were shown to real Americans who care about using facts to make our arguments. I'm not hating on everyone in the group, but you should know what you're supporting (other than generic conservatism).

Put up or shut up

If Rachel is wrong on every point then, please, provide proof from articles written during those time periods for which she speaks. Merely stating that it\'s not true now does not lend credence to your argument.

As a side note, I lived in Oshkosh, Wisconsin for seven years back in the \'80\'s and I had a landlady who traveled to Appleton, Wisconsin every year for a memorial service for Joseph McCarthy. She tried desperately to invite me along (much to my horror) and would try to convince me to vote Republican at elections times. I did enjoy her stories about Vaudeville both she and her husband were performers in that era of show business.

Oh, I completely forgot

The "liberal" left and the truth don't even have a nodding acquaintance. I'm getting old and keep forgetting things. By the way, Senator McCarthy was absolutely correct, which is why he's never been forgotten by the communists and their fellow travellers, the "liberal" left.

Allow me to add one more thing

While it's true that Senator McCarthy's charges were correct and sent the communists scurrying for cover (as do all exposed rats and roaches), it's also true that the Senator was not the Lord Jesus Christ and therefore was under the same guilt burden of sin as is every single solitary human being on the face of the planet. If there exists a communist, or one of their "liberal" left fellow travellers, who is perfect and free from sin, please step forward and make your identity known so that the world can fall down and worship you. Meanwhile, forgive me if I don't hold my breath waiting for that to happen.

The Bible says there is no God; the wealthy should kick back and take it easy

"Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any." - Isaiah 44:8

"There is no God." - Psalm 14:1b, Psalm 53:1b

"And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry." Luke 12:17-19

If I pick and choose, I can make the "evidence" say anything. If my audience is ignorant of the "evidence", it just makes my job easier.

BTW, the tactic is called "quote mining".

Sorry to keep you waiting, but we will have several responses to Ms. Maddow's 12/23/09 rebuttal. The first is tentatively scheduled for Saturday with others coming next week. We welcome differing points of view on all our articles. Just keep it clean and avoid name calling, personal attacks, etc.

Merry Christmas to all.

You are misrepresenting the Word of God in the blackness and confusion of your spiritual darkenss. I would not want to be in your shoes when you stand in front of the Lord Jesus Christ to be judged. And Thomas Pearcy, I'd have to say it's you people who are running from exposure. Typical, typical of the "liberal" left. Pathetic.

The correct scripture

The fool hath said in his heart, "There is no God". Psalm 14:1, Psalm 53:1. As I said earlier, lying (and lying can be done by comission or by omission) is one of the favorite pastimes of the "liberal" left. So is stealing, especially the monies earned by other people.

Here's another scripture quotation (full and without omission):
Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him. Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own conceit. Proverbs 26:4,5

And here

Are the entire and complete Scriptures from the Psalms:

The fool hath said in his heart, "There is no God". They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. Psalm 14:1

The fool hath said in his heart, "There is no God". Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good. Psalm 53:1

The word fool in the original language is nabal and means stupid, wicked, impious, insane.

You are completely correct in the proper interpretation of Scripture. I intentionally took it out of context to prove a point. Perhaps you didn't read my ENTIRE post. I finished with the following lines:
---
If I pick and choose, I can make the "evidence" say anything. If my audience is ignorant of the "evidence", it just makes my job easier.

BTW, the tactic is called "quote mining".
---
Rachel Maddow and the liberals apply this very tactic. They find something they like, take it completely out of context, add a little distortion and re-interpretation, and use it to "prove" a point.

Maddow's error-riddled attack on the Birch Society is just one more reason more and more people are tuning out all the once-dominate major media. They reserve unto themselves the right to lie, distort, fabricate, slant, attempt to humiliate and perform hack jobs on any one or any organization they disagree with. Then they have the guts to accuse others of McCarthyism. If anyone would care to contact Maddow to ask her to prove her allegations her email address is rachel@msnbc.com

I believe the writer has it backward; Rachel made the allegations, let her show the proof. This is just another example of irresponsible junk journalism. She should give the JBS air time to respond or invite them on the program for a one on one.

Definitely not sorry

It is those who question JBS that eventually make our numbers grow. Prior to joining JBS I too had heard all the same things, from JBS members were cross burners aligned with the k.k.k. and the Nazi party, then came the same allegations that Rachel Maddow has made. It made me research these allegations and question what the John Birch Society was. I found the answers and became a member. Once the truth is seen anyone who believes in the constitution of the United States of America would be proud to be a member of this organization. That is not to say everyone who believes is a member, but I feel when they do the research as I did they will be.

WOW, you guys really stink

well, I don't really believe in any form of organized religion. more importantly, anyone, or organization, that would support a nitwit like Sarah palin would never get any support from me. Moreover, I have researched the JBS, and what she was reporting on is absolutely true. you folks at the JBS may not like it, but it is what it is. I'm shocked, I didn't know that you folks were that extreme. One thing is for sure, if there is a GOD, I'm sure he has special plans for you people, like being buried right next to JUDAS.

"everything you guys stand for, is everythng I'm against"
"I would never support any organization that would support a candidate like Sarah Palin"

You seem to be suffering from some form of dissociative disorder. In the first instance, you imply that you are FOR Sarah Palin (since you believe opposite to the JBS).
In the second statement, you imply you are AGAINST Sara Palin (in which case you and JBS are in agreement). JBS regards Palin as neo-conservative.

Which is it?

Important Notice...

Please notice that the JBS, nor any of its followers here have rebutted the Maddows rebuttal.

Maddows did a segment on the JBS's sponsorship of CPAC and made certain "allegations". JBS wanted a retraction/apology. Maddows answered with a stinging response showing how incredibly conspiratorial and delusional the JBS is by showing direct quotes (in context) from JBS speeches and publications.

Please note in reading all of the above post that JBS followers just say she lies, misquotes, and that it's the "liberal left" media that is distorting the truth; but they don't give ANY examples. Maddows did. JBS doesn't.

It is hard to refute the truth, isn't it? If her second segment was filled with lies, as you said her first was, you'd be all over it; proving her wrong with facts. Instead, absolutely none.

Ms. Maddow has an agenda, regardless how skewed, reckless and erroneous or at whose expense it receives promotion. She makes no apologies nor does she attempt going through much effort in hiding her ideological positions. An individual merely needs to consider the source before weighing its credibility. Ms. Maddow's credibility is often in question when facts are compared to her statements. However, this dilemma has reached epidemic proportions amongst nearly every talking head throughout today's media.

Ms Maddow's hatchet job

Dear Ms Maddow:

I have been a member of The John Birch Society for 25 years and joined just after the friendly soviets shot down the Korean airliner 007 with 269 men, women and children aboard (8/31/83). I believe it was a major "mistake" on the soviet's side to do this evil deed as many Americans were awaken to the threats against our people. A reading of the book, "Shadows of Power" by James Perloff should clear-up any doubts you might have about the JBS. BTW, that book was sent to every congressman, senator, state assemblyman, state senator, every library in America and many, many others.

Thank God for the JBS and their affiliate magazine, The New American (www.thenewamerican.com).

Best,
Frank St George
