Randy Terrill, ImmigrationThe legislator most responsible for bringing comprehensive immigration reform — the law-and-order kind — to the Sooner State presses on.

State Rep. Randy Terrill, a Republican member of the Oklahoma House of Representatives, has authored a bill — Quality of Education Assessment for Oklahoma Citizens Act of 2010 — which would mandate that public school districts “measure and assess” how many of the enrolled students are here illegally.

One purpose of the assessment? To learn what the cost is to legal Oklahomans.

It’s a fair query.

And a pertinent one.

The education of these children is no small endeavor. Taxpayers have a right to know those numbers, as do lawmakers who bear the responsibility of crafting and voting for state budgets. Citing statistics compiled by the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), of Washington, D.C., Terrill estimates that in 2006 Oklahoma spent $160 million a year educating students who are unlawfully in the United States. Nationwide the total K-12 public school expenditure for illegal immigrant education costs the states nearly $12 billion annually.

Americans have to thank the U.S. Supreme Court for this educational budget buster.

In a 5-to-4 majority vote, the Supremes, in the case known as Plyler v. Doe (1982), ruled that states cannot withhold education funding to children who are illegal aliens. This, despite the fact that Justice William J. Brennan, Jr., writing for the majority, opined that “public education is not a ‘right’ granted to individuals by the Constitution.”

That confession, from an unapologetic liberal no less, is of scant comfort to those who, today, bear the burden for instructing those students due to this bizarre foray into judicial activism.

Meanwhile, in late Februar the Oklahoma legislature’s House Appropriations and Budget Committee passed, in late February, Terrill’s measure by a 16-0 vote, and the bill will soon be voted on by the full House.  But the legislative success hasn’t prevented Terrill’s critics from publicly castigating him.

The Oklahoman’s
(the Sooner State’s largest newspaper and once famously dubbed as the ‘worst newspaper in America’ by the Columbia Journalism Review) editorial page has already fired a shot at the state representative, declaring that Terrill is “ramping up his anti-illegal immigrant crusade.” Patricia Fennell of the Latino Community Development Agency of Oklahoma City stated that he is “engaging in personal politics and wasting taxpayers’ time and money.” Terrill has affirmed that the cost to taxpayers, of collecting the data, would be minimal. As for the Oklahoman? The newspaper is arguably ramping up its anti-consent-of-the-governed crusade.

Three years ago Terrill authored the Oklahoma Taxpayer and Citizen Protection Act, which went into effect on November 1, 2007, and, among other things, mandated that businesses verify their employees’ work authorization status and made it a state crime to knowingly “transport, harbor, or shelter” illegal aliens. The verification provision of the law has survived a legal challenge, but other sections are being sent back to district court.

For his legislative efforts, Terrill has become something of a national folk hero to everyday citizens and legal residents, who rarely have such a fearless champion in this contentious debate.

But, thankfully, they now do, as Randy Terrill continues to do his best to ensure, as he puts it, that “Oklahoma is no longer OK for illegal aliens.”

Terrill the Tiger

Rep. Terrill is smart, ethical, works well with others. He truly understands the threat that mass uncontrolled colonization in this country by some of the poorest and most culturally hostile people groups on the planet poses for the future of the Republic.

This new bill to measure the harm caused by mandatory education for illegal alien students to our ability to provide a quality education for citizens and legal immigrants shows leadership, true compassion, and vision.

Throw out those legislators who contaminate Washington

We need more politicians such State Rep. Randy Terrill, a Republican member of the Oklahoma House of Representative or Steve Poizner, as a potential Governor of California who promises to fight back against supporting illegal alien families public. Dump out of office every politician, Governor, Mayor, Judge or other elected official, beginning with majority leader Sen.Harry Reid, Chuck Schumer, Speaker,Nancy Pelosi who favors the illegal immigration occupation of this nation
Whatever the outcome of the discussions between Sen. Chuck Schumer, Lindsey Graham of any other partisanship play on the illegal immigration explosion. No matter if our politicians kill E-Verify, 287 (g) federal agreement with local police, slowing down on ICE raids or anything. Whatever law they try to enact, the American people will not tolerate any kind of AMNESTY. Disguise it as they may, no Comprehensive Immigration Reform will ever pass. Illegal aliens will remain "Illegal" and stay that way, as patriotic citizens, sovereignty lovers will--NEVER--allow this abomination to pass. A citizen workers ID or biometric identity card may gain some recognition, but only for legal immigrants. THOSE WHO STOLE ACROSS THE BORDER WILL--NEVER, EVER--BE ACCEPTED BY AMERICANS.

IS America finally listening?

We will take the late Senator Ted Kennedy at his word, when he stated in 1986 Simpson-Mazzoli bill: “This amnesty will give citizenship to only 1.1 to 1.3 million illegal aliens. We will secure the borders henceforth. We will never again bring forward another amnesty bill like this.” End of Quote. SO BE IT! We take this venerated, liberal politician as his word. NEVER ANOTHER AMNESTY. We are now dealing with the monstrous backlash of astronomic costs, that have amplified in support for illegal aliens who have cheated the entitlement system. Amendments to the 1986 Immigration Control and Reform Act may be possible, but if you want to settle in America, you follow the Rule of Law.and enter America through the front gates. READ THE LATEST ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION NEWS AT NUMBERSUSA, CAPITOL THE CORRUPTION AT JUDICIAL WATCH. INFORM EVERY STATE POLITICIAN IN YOUR CONSTITUENCY YOUR ANGRY. JOIN MILLIONS AND CALL THE WASHINGTON SWITCHBOARD AT 202-224-3121. INSURE THAT YOUR POLITICIANS- AIDE LOG IN YOUR FRUSTRATED COMPLAINTS AND DON'T TAKE--NO--FOR AN ANSWER!

Mixed blessing...

Please keep in mind that Rep. Terrill's legislation can sometimes be a mixed blessing. In the process of dealing with illegal aliens his legislation can tend to allow the state government to collect and save information on citizens which many local Oklahoma activists including me fear is leading us to be more of a surveillance society. From my own conversations with Terrill I believe he means well and has a good heart but I also fear how some of his well intended legislation may be used against ordinary citizens in time.

Are we trading in our liberties for security? Representative Terrill does not fear the "power of the sword" being used against law abiding citizens as much as I do. There in lies the rub.

"Are we trading in our liberties for security?"

I for one, am not willing to risk that trade and I do not believe the framers of the constitution would either. The second amendment was not written for hunting.

Mixed Blessing

Yes this is a mixed blessing. Fear the data collecting as it will be used against you eventually, for your own good of course. The problem is that we're giving out benefits to begin with. If we removed the benefits, there would hardly be an immigration problem. It's like work that keeps coming up processes to address a broken process, instead of fixing the broken process to begin with. Also Randy Terrill has authored bills to favor a police state where innocent until proven guilty is a thing of the past.

THE LESSONS OF CALIFORNIA v.s. TRAITOROUS POLICIANS

Any American that understands California has been bankrupted by millions upon millions of illegal foreign nationals, and continues to support illegal immigration, is either an American who hates his state, hates American citizens, or is a fifth columinst for some foreign nation. What's the big mystery here?

The cost to Oklahoma and the rest of the nation from illegal aliens must be assessed on much more than financial outlay. Think of the overcrowded schools where US children do not get a teacher's time as much of it goes to trying to teach non-English speaking students, the waiting time in emergency rooms when illegal aliens are in line to get medical attention your dollar is paying for. The space in prison taken up with foreign criminals who get are happy to be in prisons here rather than the horrors that await them in a Mexican prison. How about the drain on our natural resources, social services, food stamps, and housing allotments. Neighborhoods turned into outdoor garages, loud music, a constant stream of foreign languages. This last is a real sticking point. Our government really aids and abets here. Everything is printed in Spanish. This is the first time in our nation's history where a foreign language is given equal billing with English. So, think of all these things when you think of the cost to state forced on us by people who've dishonored our laws. And these are the criminals our government wants to make citizens!

More than illegal invasion

"There's class warfare, all right, Mr. (Warren) Buffett said, but it's my class, the rich class, that's making war, and we're winning."

America's ruling elites are using the illegal alien invasion as one of many tactics in their ongoing class war against the masses.

It isn't about "fighting illegal aliens", it's about fighting treason

It's important how we characterize things. Randy Terrill is not "fighting Illegal Aliens in Oklahoma". That would be a libera/progressive characterization of Randy's work. What Mr. Terrill is doing, is fighting against the many traitors in both Oklahoma and the establishment in Washington, because they will not obey their sworn duties to protect this nation from foreign influence, and they are not doing their duty to uphold existing U.S. immigration law. That is what Mr. Terrill is doing.

Wast of Time

Mr. Randy Terrill it a ''joke'' what he is has created, is this simply a way for you to SHOW yourself in politics and make the American people of Oklahoma belive that you are doing something? Begin by eliminating the hatred and prejudice that exist against this minority group, now where else have I seen it more than in Oklahoma, it's a pity that you all are wasting your time in passing the 'Quality of Education Assessment for Oklahoma Citizens Act of 2010'' to stop the illegal immigrants to obtain a so-called quality of education, are you joking our nation is going throught the worst crisis after the Great Depression and you all are promoting hatred in the nation. God help you all'

HATE?

I do not hate people. What I HATE is spending MY dollars to medicate, educate, feed, and house people who have no right to be in MY country! In December of 2009 at 6 a.m. I saw an illegal alien drop his pants and defecate in the street in front of my house. I HATE it when that happens! In 2005 the grandson of an illegal who came here 50 years ago entered my home while running from police. I was 66 and female and home alone. He was 24, high on methamphetamine, and looked like Mike Tyson. I was no match for him until I got my pistol. He left in the ambulance and I did not! I HATE the way drug addicts KILL PEOPLE! I HATE the way illegal aliens come across the border with backpacks full of drugs to sell to Americans! I HATE the way one of them shot a rancher in Arizona last week while trespassing on the rancher's own land! I HATE THAT! Bless Rep. Randy Terrill for what he is doing for Oklahoma! I wish we had one or more like him in every state in the USA! Here in Idaho, an agriculture based state, our Senators and Representatives are bought off by farmers and ranchers, so they will never pass any legislation to rid us of the plague of illegals who are trashing and bankrupting our state. GOD BLESS OKLAHOMA!!
