Tennessee-based Coordinator Jim Sandman reports that John McManus and the JBS book table were enthusiastically well-received at the Tenth Amendment Summit in Atlanta on February 26. Over 400 attendees gave Mr. McManus several standing ovations during his speech. Afterwards, audience members sought his autograph at the table and purchased all the “Summit Special” packets Jim had stuffed with Mr. McManus’s booklets and DVDs, and a membership application. Jim sold more than $1,000 worth of literature and signed up a new member. The event marked the first exposure to JBS for several attendees, some of whom stated, “I now have a completely different attitude about JBS.”

Oklahoma City Section Leader Don Crosson reports that two JBS programs held at the library in Ponca City led to the formation of a brand new chapter in that community. Oklahoma continues to build JBS influence.

Following Oklahoma’s lead, a new chapter has just been launched in Greeneville, Tennessee, led by David and Judith Sexton. Another is pending in Johnson City.

Jim Sandman noted that two proud JBS members in his territory are running for governor in their states: Joe Kirkpatrick in Tennessee and Ray McBerry in Georgia.

In Missouri, Tom and Margo Salt have been gathering members and prospects for a new chapter in Macon. I had the pleasure of leading one of Tom’s prospects through the presentation via computer, and he joined. This success leaves a potential chapter only one new member short of being launched.

Florida-based Coordinator Keith Dunn has five chapter leaders working together, presenting talks tied to historical events as an outreach plan to acquaint prospects with the JBS in Newberry, Gainesville, Ocala, Trenton, and Cross City. Two of these chapter leaders expect to have new chapters in the near future.

Northern Texas-based Coordinator Mitch Shaw has two new chapters and a member winning election to the Texas House. And Southern Texas-based Coordinator Ken Hoover reports growing acceptance of the Society as indicated by a member elected as County GOP Chair in Corpus Christi.
