Choose Freedom — Stop ObamaCare!
The recent passage of federal healthcare is a watershed moment in American political history. Unless it is stopped, the finest healthcare system in the world will be converted into a bureaucratic socialistic quagmire. In every country where medical treatment is currently under government control, the results are tragic. Long lines of patients waiting for simple procedures are common while those needing a serious operation for problems related to the heart or other vital organs can expect to wait for extended periods. Many die before there is room at a hospital or before a physician becomes available. Overall, the quality of care deteriorates substantially.
Beyond the medical side of this intrusion into the field of medicine, a recent USA Today/Gallup poll showed that almost two-thirds of Americans feel the healthcare bill is too expensive and gives far too much authority to government. They are correct.
The new law will also place draconian burdens on businesses with more than 50 employees. If a 50-plus employee business owner does not provide healthcare for his workers, he faces a fine of $2,000 for each employee. As a predictable consequence, fewer employers will hire beyond the 50-person threshold in order to avoid severe costs and outrageous fines. Well-to-do Americans who decide not to obtain healthcare will face a 2.5 percent fine on their total income.
The editorial staff at The New American is working on a hard-hitting article that will describe the many serious problems associated with the new healthcare law. Reprints will be available shortly after publication. In addition, an ObamaCare 101 DVD will be available in mid-May. Radio and newspaper advertisements, a Facebook fanpage, and much more are in the works.
This campaign will be aimed at Congress for both defunding and repeal, and at state legislators for nullification.
ACTION SUMMARY
- Distribute the TNA reprint to doctors, financial planners, independent healthcare providers, business leaders, and others who will be impacted by this measure. Ask for referrals and provide reprints for use by these allies and always suggest that there are solutions in which they can participate.
- Hold townhall type meetings in libraries, church halls, VFW and American Legion facilities, and other locations for showings of a our new ObamaCare 101 DVD. A special flyer will be provided for use in advertising this program locally.
- Help fellow Americans understand that Congress can withhold appropriations to implement this measure and ultimately repeal it. Also, states can nullify the measure’s enactment, just as many states have refused to participate in the federal Real ID Act.
- Contact your representative’s local congressional office to express displeasure about the measure and seek support for repeal or refusal to fund federal healthcare. Contact and/or visit state legislators to recommend nullification.
- We are initiating a mailing program of the new TNA reprint within selected congressional districts. It will consist of a minimum of 10k or as many as 25K reprints to business and professional leaders. The resources for this effort should be gathered from those in the business/medical communities who are most adversely affected by this government action. Further instructions about this project as well as its costs will soon be available from staff and headquarters personnel.
