The healthcare law, as bad as it is, represents just one of many dangerous legislative measures being considered in Washington. In addition, there are Cap and Trade, Financial Bailout, Amnesty for Illegal Immigrants, and more intended for passage. Newly awakened and concerned Americans see this onslaught, and many believe the fight for freedom is over, or at least overwhelming. They aren’t sure where to begin, how to fight back, or what the correct solution is. Telling them they are fighting a generations-old Insider Conspiracy would probably bring an incredulous look of disbelief as well as questions about the sanity of the bearer of such perspective.

The lesson for all John Birch Society members is to start the education of prospects with a basic understanding of America’s political and economic systems. Use Overview of America and Dollars and $ense, the tandem that provides an excellent beginning for any prospect. As the prospect’s understanding grows, so will his or her thirst for additional information. You can then provide a deeper understanding of issues like the Federal Reserve, the threat posed by the United Nations, and the dominance over so much of our nation by the most visible arm of the Conspiracy, the Council on Foreign Relations. The Shadows of Power by James Perloff will jolt any rational person into an understanding of the treason that has taken place in our government for several generations.

We sometimes feel the urge to share with prospects the deepest and darkest revelations of the Conspiracy and its many subsidiaries only to find we have failed to build a sufficient understanding on basic principles of liberty and freedom. We then feel disappointed because our prospect has decided not to join. If you’re failing in your work to recruit new members, perhaps rethinking your approach might bring a higher level of success.

Block ObamaCare

We will be adding several new tools in our fight to repeal ObamaCare, three slim jims — “What is ObamaCare,” “About Choice and Freedom,” and “ObamaCare: Myths vs. Truth” — and a two-sided action sheet dealing with state nullification and congressional repeal as solutions. There will also be a trifold pamphlet targeting this latest attack on freedom. Radio and newspaper ads have been created that offer the May 10, 2010 “ObamaCare” issue of The New American along with the new DVD “ObamaCare 101.” We have also produced a letter for members to use when distributing or mailing the TNA or the DVD, and a flyer to be used for “ObamaCare 101” video showings. As much of this material as possible will be posted on the JBS.org website and all are urged to download it for local use.

As fall approaches, we are looking forward to offering several speakers for tours in selected areas of the country covering the serious problems all Americans will face unless ObamaCare is repealed or defunded by the Congress, or many states pass nullification legislation.

ACTION SUMMARY

• Distribute the “ObamaCare” issue of TNA to doctors, financial planners, independent insurance company personnel, and members of activist organizations such as the Tea Party groups, C4L, and others.
• Arrange for public showings of the DVD ObamaCare 101. A Flyer is available on JBS.org for use in video showings.
• Provide copies of both the “ObamaCare” TNA and DVD to state legislators and encourage them to initiate nullification proceedings.
• Visit your best prospects, show ObamaCare 101, and invite them to learn more and become involved.
