The John Birch Society President to Participate in “We the People Convention”
John McManus to Take Part in Panel Discussion on Federal Reserve

APPLETON, WIS. – May 12, 2011 – We the People Convention, Inc., today announced that John McManus, president of The John Birch Society, will take part in a panel discussion of the viability of the Federal Reserve at the Ohio statewide “We the People Convention” being held on July 1-2, 2011, at the Columbus Convention Center.

McManus said of the Federal Reserve, “It has presided over the loss of more than 95 percent of the value of U.S. currency. A huge percentage of the wealth of the people has been confiscated through the inflationary practices carried out by the Fed.” McManus will present this and other findings detailed in his book “Financial Terrorism,” during the panel discussion. The panel moderator will be Linda Bowyer, Associate Professor of Finance at University of Toledo. Other panel participants include Mike Sullivan, founder and president of Wealth Coach Financial Services, Inc. of Dublin, Ohio and Bob Wagner, a Columbus based portfolio manager who has taught finance at Ohio Wesleyan and Microeconomics at Ohio State University.

“We are excited to have John join the panel discussion on the Federal Reserve at the We the People Convention,” said Tom Zawistowski, convention president. “John brings a depth of knowledge about American government that spans more than 44 years and has educated millions of Americans about the appropriate role of government during his tenure with The John Birch Society.”

Convention attendees can also go to McManus’ other presentations during the morning breakout sessions. He will be speaking on the Council on Foreign Relations and its negative influence on American liberty, and also on neoconservatives that have pushed the conservative movement away from its limited government principles.

McManus joined The John Birch Society in August 1966. He has written and produced numerous audiovisual programs, including the DVD Overview of America, which is a tribute to America’s Constitutional roots. Additionally, McManus has authored several books including Financial Terrorism (1993), Changing Commands: The Betrayal of America’s Military (1995), William F. Buckley, Jr.: Pied Piper for the Establishment (2002), and The Insiders (2004).

The “We the People Convention” will consist of two days of educational breakout sessions, interspersed with major national figures including conservative strategist Dick Morris who will be speaking at luncheons.  Its purpose is to educate and train citizens about the political process and to encourage involvement in that process at the grassroots level.

We the People Convention, Inc., is a state registered 501 (c) 4 non-profit educational organization based in Columbus, charged with assembling the convention, as well as engaging political activists throughout Ohio. For more information on We the People Convention, visit www.wethepeopleconvention.org or contact Tom Zawistowski at 1-800-846-4630, ext. 104 or at This email address is being protected from spambots. CEO of The John Birch Society to address members, supporters July 9, 1:30 PM

APPLETON, WIS.—May 16, 2011—Art Thompson, CEO of The John Birch Society, will address nullification as a constitutional tool for states to use in response to unconstitutional federal legislation.  He will present “Winning the Fight for Your Rights” on July 9, 1:30 PM, at the Holiday Inn on Madison Avenue and I-80, Sacramento. Tickets are available from Jan Frelick (530-885-5321).

Tour in conjunction with the Tenth Amendment Center.

Thompson has held virtually every volunteer and staff position in the Society, since joining in 1964.  For several years, he represented the Society in a variety of media events, including appearing on "60 Minutes" and conducting tours for JBS Speakers Bureau.

The John Birch Society to attend CPAC 2011 as affiliate
The JBS announces it’s an affiliate of CPAC 2011, will have two booths with plenty of educational literature, once again interviewing attendees

APPLETON, WIS.—November 12, 2010—The John Birch Society has signed on as an affiliate for the 38th Annual Conservative Political Action Conference, otherwise known as CPAC 2011.  This will be held February 10-12, 2011, at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, DC. Last year’s appearance was the JBS’s first since the early 1990s.

“Last year’s appearance went so well that we are very happy to return,” said Bill Hahn, Public Relations Manager for JBS. “The attendees couldn’t have been nicer and it will be great to make further connections with those interested in learning more about Constitutional solutions for the problems affecting this nation.”

Over the last couple of years, JBS has seen a real thirst in the electorate for solutions to overbearing and unconstitutional government.  JBS has responded with a number of activist and educational tools, many of which will be displayed and given out at the JBS CPAC booth # 310 and 312.  Most prominently will be tools for choosing freedom and stopping ObamaCare, including information on nullification, repealing and defunding the unconstitutional new health care law.

Campus Liberty Alliance, the collegiate organizing arm of JBS, will be promoted within the booth, as will the JBS news magazine, The New American.

The other half of the JBS booth will be used for on-camera interviews of conservative leaders and attendees by Liberty News Network.  Last year, those interviewed included author Cory Emberson, National Right to Work’s President Mark Mix, American Petroleum Institute’s Chief Economist John Felmy, talk radio host Wayne Bradley, author James Bovard, syndicated columnist Star Parker, bestselling author and columnist Jerome Corsi, Eagle Forum’s Founder Phyllis Schlafly, American Policy Center’s President Tom DeWeese and former Congressman J.D. Hayworth.  We also caught a lively, yet respectable discussion between MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow and JBS staff at the booth.  JBS CPAC 2010 video interviews can be seen here.

Choose Freedom — Stop ObamaCare Doctor Tour Begins
The John Birch Society sends three doctors on a speaking tour to kickoff its campaign to repeal or nullify the new healthcare law, allowing patients, doctors to choose a course of care

APPLETON, WIS.—September 23, 2010—The John Birch Society’s “Choose Freedom — Stop ObamaCare!” speaking tour officially begins September 24 in Idaho with a presentation by Dr. Mark E. Baxter.  The tour features three doctors who are passionate about affordable quality healthcare and constitutional, limited government that allows patients and their doctors to choose a course of care.

The tour begins in Idaho and runs through 13 states until the first part of November.

The "Choose Freedom — Stop ObamaCare!" tour is a nationwide speaking tour/media tour of three physicians and JBS President John McManus, sponsored by The John Birch Society.  It is an important part of the Society’s comprehensive campaign that includes billboards, radio and newspaper ads, videos and DVDs, flyers, bumper stickers, ObamaCare repeal and nullification petitions, Internet social network sites, and YouTube, as well as print and online articles.  The campaign aims to educate and enlist more Americans in the efforts to push Congress to repeal the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, while at the same time urging state legislatures to stop the federal takeover of medicine and healthcare through the constitutional process of nullification.

The three doctors are Baxter, MD; Frederick Pierce, MD; and J. Michael Ritze, DO, MFSA.  Baxter is a former urgent care and emergency room physician and a Senior Airman Medical Examiner for the Federal Aviation Administration.  He has long had an interest in the effect on medicine that would accompany government control of medical care.

Ritze has a family practice in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and has delivered over 2,000 babies.  He has taught forensic science specifically to law enforcement agencies across Oklahoma for years.  Since 2008, he has served in the Oklahoma House of Representatives.

Pierce spent the better part of his medical career working in the occupational and environmental health fields.  He served 27 years with General Motors and then at clinics in Michigan and Indiana before retiring.

McManus is the President of The John Birch Society, publisher of The New American magazine, publisher of the JBS Bulletin and author of several books.  Before joining the Society’s staff in the 1960s, he served on active duty as a lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps.

JBS CEO Arthur R. Thompson will be a fifth speaker and fill in where needed.  He has read the entire "Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act" and its reconciliation companion. Through JBS, he is helping lead the effort to overturn the new law and help return the choice of healthcare back to individuals.

The 25-city tour schedule can be found online. The doctors are available for interviews.

John Birch Society President to Hold Class at 2010 March on DC
John McManus will teach Dollars & $ense, Solutions to the Economic Meltdown

APPLETON, WIS.—September 3, 2010—John McManus, President of The John Birch Society, will be teaching a class on sound money during the first day of the 2010 March on DC that runs September 9-12. “Dollars & $ense, Solutions for the Economic Meltdown” will be presented on Thursday, September 9, 11:00-11:50 AM., at the Omni Shoreham Hotel, Washington, DC.

The John Birch Society has been educating people on the merits of sound money since its inception. Sound money takes away the power to inflate and manage money, something that can be handled by the free market. Money management by the Federal Reserve has brought down the value of the dollar by 95 percent, since its creation. This mismanagement has led to severe market swings, the literal thievery of money through inflation and the creation of money out of thin air.

On the converse, sound money keeps its value, cannot be easily inflated and has led to economic prosperity. “When money is a commodity chosen by the marketplace, money manipulators cannot succeed in saddling a populace with inflation and debt, stealing their wealth in the process,” said McManus. “America’s Founding Fathers had their experience with inflation that almost destroyed the nation as it was being created. They emphatically sought to block it from ever again occurring again via the U.S. Constitution.”

Those attending “Dollars & $ense” will have the opportunity to purchase books and DVDs written by McManus. He will also participate in book signings at Author’s Row during the event.

McManus is the President of The John Birch Society, publisher of The New American magazine, publisher of the JBS Bulletin and author of several books, including “Financial Terrorism: Hijacking America Under the Threat of Bankruptcy” (1993). Before joining the Society’s staff in the 1960s, he served on active duty as a lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps.

The 2010 March on DC is not just a rally, rather it is four days of freedom-promoting events that aims to educate, inform and inspire all who attend. The March on DC and associated events are grassroots—the leadership consists of members from some of the country’s largest independent conservative-minded organizations. All those involved in the planning of this event are non-partisan volunteers who share the common goal of unifying constitutional patriots to preserve liberty and the Constitutional principles upon which this nation was founded. This is an event of the people, by the people and for the people—it is We the People United in Action.
