Last month we discussed the interview we had with Dan Barry from the New York Times. The article has since been published and overall was lackluster. Interestingly, there was not much traction from it in other newspapers or Internet outlets. Only Twitter, one of the rising social networking sensations, seemed to take note of the article as supporters and detractors announced the news in short 140 character postings called Tweets. The article is available on the Times website if you’re interested in reading it. Our response is located in the Press Room on JBS.org.

Sometime in June, a member had submitted JBS President John McManus as a recommended guest to appear on Judge Andrew Napolitano’s “Freedom Watch” show on FoxNews.com. Once we became aware of this, we emailed alerts for others to “vote” his status higher than other recommended guests. John skyrocketed to first place for a short time and has now settled into second. Once his status climbed into the top five, we contacted the producer of the Internet show. The reception was very warm and John was booked for July 1 to discuss Constitutional matters, which are certainly very relevant given the current economic and political situation.

John arrived early at the New York studio, met briefly with Judge Napolitano, and had a chance to say hello to Rep. Ron Paul, another scheduled guest for the show who had called in from his office in Texas. John and the Judge learned that they had mutual longtime friends. Before the show, they also got to discuss the judge’s stance on a Constitutional Convention. The judge said he really wasn’t a supporter of it.

During the show, Rep. Paul talked about the progress of his Audit the Fed legislation, saying that the General Accounting Office would be in charge of conducting the audit and that congressional leaders could block attempts to have it come up for a vote.

Columbia University Professor David Buckner, 2008 Libertarian Presidential Nominee Dr. Mary Ruwart, and DownsizeDC.org’s Jim Babka were the rest of the guests for the hour. Prof. Buckner and John had a lively exchange with the judge regarding the constitutional limitations on government, with many points being agreed upon.

The hour-long program is available at the “Freedom Watch” website at

Thank you to everyone who helped vote John up to first place. “Freedom Watch” is an up and coming weekly show that will hopefully be carried on the Fox News cable network soon. Currently, it can only be seen in the Strategy Room on FoxNews.com (Wednesdays at 1:00 PM Central) and heard as a radio broadcast on Saturdays (5:00 PM Central) on Fox News Talk Sirius channel 145, XM channel 168 and FoxNewsTalk.com.

We are hoping to get John back on with the Judge soon. Stay tuned!

McManus “Economic Meltdown” Tour

John McManus capped off the last of his presentations about America’s Economic Meltdown in California during the final days of June. All told, nearly 6,000 people attended, with countless more hearing or seeing John’s message through the many media interviews set-up throughout the tour.

The tour ran from mid-February through the end of June, stopping in more than 40 cities in 21 states. “America’s Economic Meltdown” is based on the DVD that John wrote and appeared in, called Dollars & $ense. In it, he discusses the history of sound money, the Federal Reserve, inflation, and the devaluing of the dollar as well as what the U.S. Constitution states about money and what it says Congress has the power to do regarding money. He also presented a seven-step process for long-term economic stability based on the Constitution.

Thank you to all of the members, supporters, and staff who helped to assemble the tour and ensure its success. Now is the time to put what you’ve learned into play, help educate others, and organize and work to create change. Tools include the Dollars & $ense DVD, “Dollars & $ense: Solutions to the Economic Meltdown” booklet, “Restoring the Rights of the States and the People” booklet, and the Dollars & $ense – audio CD, not to mention the tremendous networking capabilities at JBS.org and the educational, daily news at TheNewAmerican.com. All tools are available at ShopJBS.org.
