The “Respect for Marriage Act,” S. 598, was introduced in March by Sen. Diane Feinstein (D-Calif.).  On the same day, exactly the same bill was introduced as H.R. 1116 by Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) in the House.

An article in the most recent edition of the prestigious Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) suggests that as many as two million children who are "morbidly obese" should be put on a diet by government and removed from their parents and families if they don't show progress.

A morbidly obese person is someone who's body mass index (BMI) is 40 or higher, generally someone who is 100 pounds or more overweight. According to the July 13 USA Today, and the JAMA article, "Roughly 2 million U.S. children are extremely obese. Most are not in imminent danger, Ludwig said. But some have obesity-related conditions such as Type 2 diabetes, breathing difficulties and liver problems that could kill them by age 30."

A coalition of pro-family, anti-porn, and decency organizations have banded together in an effort to convince NBC that it should scrap one of its new fall programs, The Playboy Club. NBC is touting the show as a “provocative new series [that] captures a time and place that challenged the social mores, where a visionary created an empire, and an icon changed American culture.”

But the Coalition for the War on Illegal Pornography, led by Morality in Media, said the show is nothing more than a pornographic attack on families and the culture that should never see the light of day. “NBC is contributing to the sexual objectification and exploitation of women and encouraging greater acceptance of pornography with its soon-to-be-aired series,” the coalition charged in a press release. The coalition is made up of more than seventy groups, including Focus on the Family, Alliance Defense Fund, Family Research Council, Concerned Women for America, American Family Association, Torah Jews for Decency, Wallbuilders, and the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention.

The Obama administration continues to take on the food industry, this time pressuring food companies to discontinue advertising junk food for children, while Republicans have come forward in support of the food companies, helping them to resist federal pressures.

The Blaze reports:

Some food companies say the government is going too far with guidelines proposed earlier this year by several government agencies. The voluntary guidelines would attempt to shield children from ads for sugary and fatty foods — think colorful characters on cereal boxes – on television, in stores and on the Internet. Companies would be urged to market foods to children ages 2 through 17 only if they contain specific healthy ingredients and are low in fats, sugars and sodium.

With the New York victory for same-sex marriage fresh on the minds of homosexual activists, former Obama administration Chief of Staff and current Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel wants his town — and state — to keep up with the Big Apple. As reported by CNN, Emanuel “showed his support for the recently passed New York same-sex marriage law, telling CNN’s Wolf Blitzer … he would support similar legislation in Illinois.” Obama’s friend and political ally told Blitzer that he thought same-sex marriage is a “significant issue,” and he hoped Illinois would move in the same direction as the Empire State. “Tremendous progress has been made across the country on a value statement and I think that’s very important,” Emanuel added.

An online Catholic TV show dubbed the Catholic Investigative Agency (CIA) dedicated a recent episode to exposing the Rockefeller Foundation’s ties to eugenics groups, population-control advocates, efforts at global governance, pro-abortion activities, and other highly controversial subjects.

The program, run by Catholic media personality Michael Voris, also highlights the Rockefeller dynasty’s assault against the church — one of the primary opponents of Rockefeller-backed schemes. From the Foundation’s efforts to “purify” humanity by manipulating the gene pool to population-control campaigns aimed at reducing the number of people on Earth, the Rockefellers’ agenda has been consistently at odds with church teachings.

The thesis of the CIA episode is presented early on. “The Rockefeller Foundation is actively undermining the Catholic Church and in the process attempting to erase man’s natural orientation to the eternal,” the show explains. Indeed, after watching the program, that fact becomes obvious.

The full-blown insanity of feminism may have found its fullest expression at a Swedish pre-school, according to a news report, where the teachers have banned the use of "him" and "her" to describe boys and girls and men and women.

The leftist school, the Daily Mail reports, has adopted a "genderless" vocabulary, it says, so the kidlets are not confined to traditional stereotypes.

The school, not surprisingly, is called "Egalia." Women run it. Their goal? To let the kids become whatever and whoever they want, regardless of the equipment with which God endowed them. And banning "him" and "her" is just one of the many ways the school ensures that its students don't think boys are boys and girls are girls.

Homosexual activists and sympathizers at the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) want their agency’s “gay” awareness training to be expanded government wide, according to a report in the Washington Times. Officials at the USDA have asked the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), which supervises policies for federal employees, to mandate that all departments of the federal government implement its sensitivity training, according to a USDA internal newsletter.

Leading the charge is Agriculture Secretary Thomas Vilsack, a former Democratic governor of Iowa, who has launched a “Cultural Transformation” campaign across his department that features a Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender [LGBT] Special Emphasis Program.

A campaign to expose the connection of Stericycle, one of the nation’s leading medical waste disposal companies, with the abortion industry is heating up as two major truck leasing firms have vowed they will not allow the company to use their vehicles to service abortion clinics. A press release from Repent America, the group behind the campaign, reported that the international truck-leasing company Ryder System Inc. had “informed the Campaign to Stop Stericycle (CSS) of its decision to stop Stericycle Inc. from using its trucks to service abortion facilities.” That announcement followed last year’s decision by another truck company, Penske Truck Leasing, to stop hauling abortion-related materials for Stericycle.

To the chagrin of nanny state advocates in California, the United States Supreme Court has ruled that the state of California cannot ban violent video games from being sold or rented to children. The ruling came down through a 7 to 2 decision.

The Blaze writes:

The high court agreed Monday with a federal court‘s decision to throw out California’s ban on the sale or rental of violent video games to minors. The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Sacramento said the law violated minors’ rights under the First and Fourteenth amendments.
