When people such as Emanuel and Moreno call Chick-Fil-A and its defenders intolerant, consider something. Chick-Fil-A is a family-owned business informed by biblical values, yet it serves homosexual customers. It doesn’t refuse to hire homosexual employees. And, despite its willingness to sacrifice prosperity for principle (all its restaurants are closed Sundays), it’ll still do business in cities that have rubber-stamped faux marriage. On the other hand, many liberals would deny traditionalists the right to do business simply because they disagree with the leftist agenda.

The government of Scotland has decided to disregard the wishes of two-thirds of its citizens and move ahead with legislation to legalize same-sex marriage. According to Britain’s Telegraph newspaper, Scottish Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon announced July 25 that she would push though legislation to legalize homosexual partnerships even though 64 percent of respondents to a recent public consultation indicated they opposed the move.

Even squirrels know enough to store nuts, so that they will have something to eat when food gets scarce. But the welfare state has spawned a whole class of people who spend everything they get when times are good, and look to others to provide for their food and other basic needs when times turn bad.

We may never know what was going though Aurora shooter James Holmes’s mind when he committed his heinous mass murder. We don’t know what kind of psychosis or precisely what evil influences he might have been subject to. What we do know is that, in wanting to be the Joker and not Batman, the villainous and not the virtuous, he reflects something prevalent today: The romanticizing of evil.

Police in the south Urals region of Russia are investigating the discovery of the remains of 248 pre-born babies in a forest near Nevyansk, a town on the slopes of the Ural Mountains.

Chicago has as many as 10 murders in a given weekend, putting it on track to have over 500 murders this year, and most of those murders are committed by blacks against blacks as a result of black "victim group" status and political pandering.

Wheaton College, an Illinois school considered by many to be the leading higher education institution in the evangelical community, has joined the throng of religious organizations — including Washington D.C.-based Catholic University of America — suing to overturn the Obama Administration’s contraception mandate. The mandate, part of the “Obamacare” socialized health plan, requires that employers, including non-church religious organizations, provide free contraception — including abortion inducing drugs — with their employee health plans.

A poll conducted jointly by SurveyUSA and local television station KSTP found that 52 percent of voters said they would vote for the proposed Minnesota constitutional amendment that would define marriage as only between a man and a woman compared to 37 percent who said they would vote against it.

Harming Penn State University's football program does nothing to advance justice. It simply means that the NCAA is going to punish a large number of people, such as the players involved in the program, the new coaches, and students and others who have an emotional or even financial vested interest in the program’s health, who had nothing to do with the child sex-abuse scandal.

Planned Parenthood offered condolences to the family of a woman who hemorrhaged to death following an abortion at one of its Chicago clinics. Twenty-four-year-old Tonya Reaves died July 20 after undergoing what CBS News described as a “cervical dilation and evacuation” abortion procedure in the Planned Parenthood clinic at 18 S. Michigan Avenue. According to the Cook County medical examiner’s office, while the abortion procedure contributed to Reaves’ death, an intrauterine pregnancy was also listed as a factor.
