altEveryone is wondering what kinds of legislation will be the focus of the 112th Congress. The shift of power from the Democrats to the Republicans in the House, with the tea parties still highly energized and engaged in the political process, is bound to have some effect. 

A very important and worthy amendment was just defeated  in the Senate by a 55-43 vote. Senators Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) and David Vitter (R-La.) introduced an amendment designed to stop the Obama Administration’s lawsuit against the State of Arizona and its taxpayers for SB 1070, the immigration bill that was recently passed and goes into effect July 29.

altYesterday President Obama announced the recess appointment of Dr. Donald Berwick to be the new Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services within the Department of Health and Human Services.

Obama Commencement SpeechFox News suggests he's the iLiar for his recent attack on technology, but President Obama's commencement speech to a graduating class is more noteworthy for its potentially chilling effect on online speech and on free speech in general. As Fox notes, the President was at least disingenuous in his remarks to graduates of Hampton University on May 9.
