Appearing with Bob Schieffer on Sunday’s Face the Nation, Republican presidential candidate and “presumptive nominee” Mitt Romney said that if he is elected in November, he would not need congressional approval to start a war with Iran.

 A week ago both Mississippi Republican senators, Thad Cochran and Roger Wicker, announced their support of S.B. 2205 — the Second Amendment Sovereignty Act of 2012 — that would allegedly protect American citizens from any abrogation of their Second Amendment rights if the UN Arms Trade Treaty was signed by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in July. That makes a total of 17 senators who are supporting the bill.

Governments and dictators assembling in Rio de Janeiro for the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development must adopt even more stringent policies to reduce the number of people in the world and make sure that those who remain stop consuming so much, a taxpayer-funded network of more than 100 science institutions demanded in a newly released statement.

Last week, the Texas Republican Party Convention, the largest political gathering in the world, convened in Fort Worth, Texas, with an estimated 6,000 to 7,000 delegates in attendance. While the event ended Saturday without any of the physical violence that has accompanied some state conventions, still the marked differences between the establishment Republicans and the emerging younger grassroots conservative activists were clear.

 As governments and dictators around the world prepare for the upcoming “Rio+20” United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, the establishment press is hyping — rather than questioning — a dubious new UN report claiming that humanity’s failure to adopt so-called “sustainability” schemes threatens the Earth. Among the global entity’s controversial recommendations: less people, less consumption, “lifestyle modifications,” and a “shift” toward new “equity-based values.”


 

As the global battle over parental rights heats up, Republicans in Congress responded on Tuesday by introducing a proposed amendment to the U.S. Constitution enshrining the liberty of parents to direct the upbringing and education of their children. Activists and lawmakers say the move is needed to permanently and explicitly guarantee what has long been recognized as a fundamental freedom.

A series of new restrictions on civilians are supposedly part of an effort to fight crime and preserve “peace” as the nation’s ongoing economic implosion accelerates.
