Obama and Romney on Civil Liberties

A video presentation produced by our partner Liberty News Network takes a hard look at the the record of the Obama administration and the positions staked out by the Romney campaign on civil liberties.

Incumbent Democratic President Barack Obama campaigned in 2008 as the man who would restore civil liberties violated by the Bush administration, such as habeas corpus and the right to trial by jury. But did Obama keep his promises? And how different is Obama's actual record on civil liberties from Republican challenger Mitt Romney's positions?

In the video — part three in a four-part series by our video partner Liberty News Network — The New American correspondent Thomas R. Eddlem takes a hard look at the record of the Obama administration and the positions staked out by the Romney campaign on civil liberties. Obama didn't keep most of his 2008 campaign promises, but Romney may still be a bit worse on civil liberties issues.
