Is ‘Farmers for Free Trade’ Willing to Surrender American Sovereignty?
APPLETON, WIS. – June 20, 2018 –Farmers for Free Trade advocates in their latest national commercial, designed to target President Trump’s aluminum and steel tariffs, that they believe supporting free trade will protect American farmers. Yet, in reality, current free trade agreements put these farmers, and all Americans, at risk by surrendering American sovereignty.
Free trade agreements, such as NAFTA, enter the United States into a form of regional government, which has been given the authority to oversee trade among the member countries. These trade blocs create guidelines that the agreement requires American companies to follow, even if those guidelines violate part of the U.S. Constitution. The guidelines are enforced by special international courts or tribunals provided for in the trade agreements, which consist of foreign officials who may not have American interests in mind. Giving away this authority over American companies and American interests through such trade agreements is eroding away the sovereignty of the United States with the potential to eventually lose it entirely.
The John Birch Society CEO Arthur Thompson explains the dangers of free trade agreements, among others, in his book International Merger by Foreign Entanglements, including:
- How the EU came about and where it is heading.
- The UN plan to use regionalism to strip away sovereignty.
- How President Trump has challenged the global landscape since his election.
- The Deep State establishment in Washington working from within to undermine Trump’s “America First” policy.
